Cash is king part 349

They are holding the machine right in front of you, you only need to see the air. Sometimes they are holding it with the screen angled away from you, but just take hold of the unit or push it down slightly to see before you tap your card. It is really easy, I do it all the time.
Most people aren't grabbing the card reader off the the barmaid though are they.

:) I've never been overcharged in a pub. Though round here I struggle to tell the difference between being conned.

£5.90 now in my local, which is pretty much a locals only pub, not marked up for tourists. They don't keep the beer well, and it is generally warm, flat with that nasty after taste you get from badly kept beer. I don't go there much now.

Many years ago, a young barmaid showed me how to take pound coins out of the palm of your hand. Counted 5 out but flicked 2 back into her hand. Half cut on a night out, change straight into pocket, you'd never know.
Mine was more straightforward, gave them a £20, they gave me change from a £5. Immediately pointed out I had given them a £20 but they just said I didn't.

The wife got fleeced twice in York last Sunday using the card, to the tune of about £20.

Didn't realise till the Monday upon checking.

Yes she should have looked, but you don't when youre pissed.

Need to get into that habit.

Odd being deliberately fleeced by bar staff. Back in the 90s when pubs were all cash, an unscrupulous bar man could short change and quietly pocket a few quid. But if you do it on a card machine it goes to the owners, and then any of those funds to the staff has to go through the books. It only makes sense if the owner does it or if it is mistakes.

The Northern Echo recently did a "life hack" story which was basically someone saying they avoid paying airport prices by taking Greggs pasties through security.

I mean some people probably do that - if you wanted to avoid high alcohol prices you could take miniatures if less than 100 ml through in your hand luggage and drink then but it’s not a “hack” just makes you a tight ****

No they can ring extra drinks through and then give the added drinks to friends or drunk then after their shift… so I’m told

Not sure why an article proving a card payment was best has the title cash is king?

If there was an error with a cash payment it's just your word against there's and no protection. When it's a card you will get your money back no problems

On the other hand, less coins being used had caused the instances of children swallowing objects to fall drastically.
Turns out it was largely coins that they were swallowing.
Had a nice whip round for my leaving work yesterday
Imagine a screenshot of a bank transfer and all the palaver collecting it in a cash free world
Our team is largely remote.
How could we hand cash over?

See, different people have different needs

Exactly ,in general it's not the cash user saying don't use cards though

Honestly never had a conversation about a kid swallowing money
What?
When did you last see a "cards are king" post?

And the article I referred was on the BBC news feed

Sorry but thats not anywhere near like , opening a card in front of people with money inside.

Similar to letting moonpig show you care about someone . Obviously cash transfers are great for long distance gifting

I must read the posts in a different way to you
I'd say the swing of these various posts down the years is ,get with the future, cash is dead all you oldies etc
That's why you get these light hearted Cash is king things come up
I use both to my advantage
In my business, cash is on par with digital and cheques are still doing well
Do you know any coin swallowers?

Cheques? What’s your business? Do you sell prawn cocktail and Black Forest gateau?
