Carrick getting Man Utd job on a permanent basis - current gossip

I know the reaction this will get on here, but most of their underlying numbers are actually worse than under Amorin.

They'd be absolutely batshit mental to appoint him permanently.

Such a short term view appointment that will end in tears and is all so inevitable.

It's difficult to argue he hasn't earned it. Whether the attitude from the players will change when he's permanent remains to be seen.

But have been awful at recruitment. Granted last season was better.
I think they’ve had a big clear out of their back room staff. Most of the deadwood was signed under Woodwards tenure. I think they have a director of football now and I don’t think Amorim was responsible for their recent good recruitment, though I could be wrong.

I thought Glasner was a shoe in when he announced he wasn’t staying at Palace
I think the fact that Glasner likes to play the same 3 at the back system as Amorim pretty much ruled him out.
Didn't work for Man Utd and Carrick's more conventional 4-2-3-1 has looked to suit them much better.

Wilcox made some mistakes on recruitment when he first joined and was pandering to Ten Hag, Onana anyone?
Think he learned from that not to pander to the manager as much and got it much better last season when overuling Amorim's choices. Mbuemo and Cunha worked out. I think Sesko will and the Belgian keeper looks a decent prospect. Yes, they could have had Martinez from Villa for a couple of years like Amorim wanted but Lammens will be the better long term option IMO.

This will end well. He'll go on to become more succesfful than Ferguson.

Carrick will reclaim the Premiership Title, lead a push to Champions League Glory, and win the FA Cup, Community Shield, and that other cup no one cares about in his first 2 seasons. After that, he'll be winning trophies faster than a mag punches horses.

Given Man U record at picking managers then the chances are they would replace him with someone worse. So makes sense to me. I still think Solskjaer would have done ok without the stupid Ronaldo signing

He eventually falls out with boardroom but Conte is the man they should be after
He sorts the wheat from the chaff and plays winning football
Like many he failed at Spurs but everywhere else he has been a serial winner

They couldn’t not give him the job, it’s a results business after all. He may not last, or he may still be there in 5 years. Only time will tell.

I have always had a soft spot for MC, I think he’s a decent enough bloke. Not sure about the overcoat with collar up look, mind 🙄

Hopefully they keep him on, they've had some shocking performances and been very fortunate with the standard of comeptition this year in the CL places. I can see them having a terrible run of form under him at the start of the season.

He has done a brilliant job. Would have been grossly unfair to get rid.
Next season will be tougher with CL games. Will need to get the transfer business right in Summer.
