Carrick getting Man Utd job on a permanent basis - current gossip

Trouble at the minute is he's got a free hit, inherited a poor performing side in freefall ,no expectations,if he went on a losing streak then " he's just the caretaker manager " card gets played.

If he gets appointed expectations will rocket ,Expectations will be minimum of semis in the champions league, and seriously challenging the top 2 in the league.
For me he hasn't enough experience yet ,he won't last a full season .

Deserves his chance I suppose but I think it will probably end very badly.
No axe to grind with him or Man utd (though i thought he gave us little or no credit after lasts weeks game ) , it would be an amazing opportunity for him.

I get folk saying he deserves his chance, but surely this has happened in football enough to know that it rarely works out, so why do it?

I think if a caretaker has done well, give him a big bonus and then tell him to throw his CV in and join the queue if he's interested.

Sbragia kept us up after Keane ran off and left a horrible mess behind him plus à mountain of debt due to his rank player recruitment

Think that's a bit kind, Keane got a 1ppg, Sbragia 0.91ppg. That's not to say Keane didnt leave a mess, he did, but any suggestion Sbragia did well, I'd argue.

They are 3rd as they have had no Europe this season. Europe next season will mean some of their squad players need to play more often and they have some absolutely honking players. Can see them coming bottom half again unless they improve squad massively

He’s done a decent job but it’ll be interesting to see how he does when managing more than one game a week. They’ve benefitted from no European football and being out the cups at an early stage

He has done a decent job, but he replaced someone who had completely lost the dressing room. There's nothing in Carrick's history to suggest that he has what it takes to manage a club of that size long term.

Why is everyone so negative about this appointment saying he’ll fail etc , he’s done well so far he deserves the opportunity.

What’s it based on that he will fail ?
