Carlisle United

Good point and a good assist for Embo. That's a big part in Carlisle's last 2 goals. He might not be running around like a headless chicken for them but for moments of quality that can change matches they are very lucky to have a player who was in the Championship 2 seasons ago. I can't see it happening but it would be good if his upward curve led him back home

Sorry I'm a bit late but no they aren't. And the way results are going tonight down there getting something would be superb, Tranny have just conceded.
Scrambly end where they could easily have lost, five good chances for Walsall. Game over and a good point.

Looking at Gillingham.
On a poor run and some tough games. Morecambe putting up a fight and keep picking up wins at home. Tranmere look in real trouble despite the point and Carlisle really need to convert these draws into wins.
It will go to the wire.

It wil likely go to the final game but if Carlisle can keep picking up draws with their new resilience they're hopefully in with a shout and didn't use up all their luck last night. A win or two would be wonderful but remaning in touching distance is a start. Taking a point from the league leaders wasn't a plausible hope a few weeks back, It's getting messy down there now

Really hope they get shitted out the league. Nothing but trouble every time we've crossed paths with them.

Come on man that's their holidays. A day & place with shops & people, passports out to cross the Pennines (and sometimes an ice cream) before going back to sell a sheep or two to pay their fine. It could be worse mind the Barra venturers are a different standard-ish

When you say back home, what do you mean?

To be fair, his performances at Sunderland mirrored this. He was excellent at actually contributing to goals (scoring and assisting) but the rest of the time he floated about pretty anonymously.

Embleton’s style doesn’t do him any favours, I warned a lot of Carlisle fans about his lacklustre nature. Had a very poor start but starting to show the odd glimpse of quality but doesn’t get involved half as much as a lad of his reputation should. Pretty anonymous in a lot of games and nearly always the first to get hooked. Wearne has looked far more positive but not sure Hughes fancies him much.

Unfortunateley a lot of "strollers" get that criticism; they have undoubted quality with the ball but often games are seen as passing them by when they aren't involved. If chasing around harrying & pressing aren't in his game no-one will get it so given Carlisle's position he's always likely to be the first player crooked when a result is needed or needs to be protected. He's arguably one of those players that a team needs to be fashioned around to get the best from.

What about Hugill? He had a great reputation in Man Us U21s and should really rip up L2 but he doesn't seem to be getting a look in.

Overall, though, it seems Hughes is slowly having a effect

Hughes blatantly doesn’t fancy him at all, got hooked at half time 4 games ago and has barely been seen since. Seen him against Carlisle a couple of times and can’t say I was ever impressed, but was willing to give him a chance. His movement’s his best quality but other, more important, aspects of his game - strength and finishing - aren’t great at all. Not sure where his career goes from here tbh.

Once a team gets into that rut, it's very hard to get out of when the pressure mounts; Gillingham aren't big scorers so could easily be properly dragged into it if they're facing some tough games.

I suppose it's generally alright for you in the relegation stakes looking downward with a 0 goal difference which underlines how far you've come under IH to be 16 points above the drop places.

Last 8 home games - Won 6 Drawn 2. Some incredible form Holloway has delivered.

Scott Lindsay (ex MKD) to Gillingham I am hearing.

He's too good for non league, surely someone in the EFL will offer him a contract if they go down.
