Carlisle United

Ethan Robson, I thought there was a right baller in there, shows how little I know.
We let him down imo by not allowing him loan moves when he was younger. I think he made his 1st team debut for us aged 22 having never played a senior game in his career at that point. Most players who are successful have accumulated 100 games by that age down the leagues. Dan Neil for example is at 150 now.

Had Robson been allowed 50 odd games in league 1/2 at 18/19 i think he'd have been playing championship football. There was definitely a player in there better than league 2 standard imo.

Similar story with Tommy Robson.

Getting the gang back together…

Forget the Oasis reunion, this is the one to watch.

They’ve just announced the signing of Jordan Jones and he’ll go into a squad that already includes Ethan Robson, Charlie Wyke & Dylan McGeouch.

Only need Alim Ozturk and Kazaiah Sterling to top it off as a Sunderland League One 2.0
Used to be my 2nd team them, used to go watch them when I visited
My grandparents in the lakes as a young lad.

Then , in the late 80s I went and there fans were minging, hell on.

His main issue has been injuries I think - struggles to complete a full season which is why he is in League 2.

Plus, according to Wiki, he did have loans to Dundee and Grimsby? But perhaps they came later.

I think we should send Hemir there. Thought that all summer

Brunton Park the first away game i was taken to in 1976, was in the home end and couldn't believe the amount of our fans in the away section. Drew the game 2-2 after they scored a late equalizer.
An evening game that I (and what seemed like thousands of other Sunderland fans) missed the kick off and the first two goals.
Found a lovely country pub on the wayback but couldn’t find it again.

Was also there as an 8 year old. Stood with my carlisle supporting parents in the paddock which was normally home support only. Such was the volume of the sunlan following they took over half of the terracing. Took over an hour to get from carlisle to brampton after the game. Those were the days

May well have been standing next to you.
I remember one of the old Carlisle fans gave me a Mars Bar before the match started, said that he wanted it back at the end of the match though if we beat them
Other memory is that we were holding on 2-1 and they were peppering Monty with long range shots (somebody said his eyesight wasn't great) eventually one of them flew past him, ended 2-2.

Anyone else remember when they were top of the old 1st division.
After three games, then got relegated!

We all know 20/20 vision is the best, but I reckon Monty had 50/50 vision for long shots - sometimes he saw them, and sometimes he didn't, but a great keeper all the same!
