*~*~* Cardiff v Sunderland match thread *~*~*

If Rusyn was playing today when we are actually playing balls in behind, he'd be having a field day.

We always seem to get the mix wrong; play Hemir for 60 minutes and don't put any balls into the box. Then take him off and put Rusyn and starting pumping the ball in there.

I agree, but a lot of it is down to the fact that we never persist with anything long enough.

You have a squad who have PTSD from playing with no out and out striker for 2 years.

As a result, the first thought is always to go out wide as opposed to even looking for runs in behind the CB and off the shoulder etc, so when Rusyn plays he makes excellent runs but never gets picked out.

Then you try Burstow or Hemir who's movement is totally different and it's yet another play style/pattern to try and adapt to.

Then, as the option up top gets changed on a weekly basis, all whom have different strengths (although that's being kind on Burstow who doesn't have any) and weaknesses there's never any chance for anything to develop.

Far too much flip-flopping every week when it's clear that Rusyn as the striker running off the shoulder of CB's, allowing us space in the final third and forcing opposition defences to drop back as opposed to sitting on the halfway line due to no threat in behind is the best option.

The club should have decided a long time ago that they were going to give him 10+ consecutive starts regardless but it's the usual odd start here and there and then disappearing for weeks on end which is of no benefit to anyone.

Great to see Jobe, Rigg and Itchouch playing together … lot of quality there.

Jobes been our best striker all season.

Just don’t get Ba, had more chances than the likes of Rigg and Ouchitch yet strolls through games eith anything but a clinical attitude. He must be brilliant in training

I think Ba's work rate is very good, definitely one of the main reasons he is favoured. He does the job he's asked to do.

He is frustrating for sure but he does have quality. He's definitely a confidence player. When he's on form, he can ghost past players but sometimes he tries to do too much or just looks weak.

Ba still baffles me mind. Our players say he’s the most skilful/talented in the team but he never looks to take people on and his first thought seems to always be the safe option. Not sure if it’s confidence or what but still never seen anything from him that sparks any excitement.
