Carabao cup

Premier League clubs enter the competition in Round Two with clubs that have qualified for the Champions League or Europa League joining in Round Three. The competition culminates in a final at Wembley Stadium, with the winner qualifying for the subsequent season's Europa League

Mags draw York city
We play Bayer leverkusen in europa league the next day
Guess which game gets more look north coverage

It’s really odd

Previously I was very against the idea that the top teams with the biggest squads and therefore the most possible permutations of strong XI’s getting an advance so far into the competition. Both finalists only played 4 games this season. R3, R4, QF and SF. Had a club like Mansfield Town got through to the final they would have played two extra games in R1 and R2. Making 6 games in total. Had a newly promoted National League side got to the final they would have been in it since the preliminary round so would have played all 7. The preliminary round, R1, R2, R3, R4, QF and SF.

It seems so unfair that the minnows with the smallest squads and in a league where they have to play the most amount of games in a season have to play more games and work twice as hard as the big Premier League teams who virtually get a bye right to the quarter finals avoiding every other stage in the competition.

But we are now in this position of leaping a few rounds. I don’t know how I feel now.

It just gets better and better haha

They should remove Premier League clubs from it entirely imo. It's a joke that no one takes it even remotely seriously til the semis.

Fond memories back in the day of a Vic Halom hat trick in the second replay against Derby back when they were champions.

We'll bin it off again whilst the Saudis go all out for it again so that bloke with blood splattered hands get to wave a shiny tin pot about in London again.

If given the choice so would I but we have atleast 8 extra fixtures next season and I'd rather us go all out for the Europa League and play the reserves in the League Cup.
Agreed but it would be nice if the reserves - with favourable fixtures - could take us to the quarters.
