Ashley doesn't deserve your support, man.

The club is rotten to the core and I can see why you'd be all uber and want to be seen to support but what's the endgame? We stay in the league and Ashley keeps benefitting? A player excels and what happens? He's sold at the first attempt to make more money for the next 'punt' to come down the production line.

All while a cluess patsy sits in the dugout. And that's the scenario that the matchgoing fans would consider 'good'. What's far more likely to happen is that we'll be rooted in the bottom three come January and Ashley will be forced to spend and dress his failure up as altruism.

It's pointless, man.

Did you cheer when Arsenal scored?

No, I wasn't even bothered. That's the saddening thing.

Years ago, I'd be raging that we'd conceded a goal and now it barely registers. 35 years I've been supporting this club, I've seen us shite and I've seen us near the top but no matter how shite we were you knew that the ambition (misplaced or not) was there. There was no ulterior motive and husk of a club that it is now.

I want to beat Leicester and win the f***ing thing, I want to die seeing us win a trophy, I'd don't give two fucks who's in charge.
If that's under these 2 do be it, 98% of Tyneside will disagree with you when the trophy is paraded.
*none of this will happen of course

Like you say we're not doing anything while Ashley's in charge. We've done scientific studies, man. Progress far in cup competitions and you end up relegated.

minging draw, on the plus side we dont have to play at home and lose money on the police bill

Why don't you post this on whatever Mag boards there are. I don't give a flying one about Perez, Benitez or Bruce.

Where exactly was this ambition prior to Hall/Shepherd? Your average position for the 40 years prior to the 4 and then 3 Premier League seasons you were at the top (1 more mid 2000's) was 13th (13.33 to be exact). It was 12.875 in the 70s and in your 'supporting years' it was 14th in the 80's. You finished top 10 just 3 times from the 70's to the Premier League seasons, once being 8th in your supporting years if you say 35 years is 1984/85.

So 14th is actually lowed than the 13th position (actually 12.9) you've experienced with Ashley and you've had a higher ratio of seasons in the top league if you look outside the Hall/Shepherd years you've been supporting since (6 out of 9 seasons in 1st Div and 3 in 2nd Div). Football has changed loads since even your 'glory days' yet you expect ambition in a league that will cost millions but no sensible owner would invest these days given the closed shop of the top of the Premier League. I posted some 'shit' here in this othe thread regarding the reality of NUFC before 1992.

As this is the League Cup draw thread I've quickly checked that link from wiki for NUFC seasons. In the 15 seasons prior to 1992/93 you got no further than the 3rd round of the League Cup and you got knocked straight out the 2nd round 10 times so only got to R3 5 times. The FA Cup wasn't that impressive either, you got knocked out straight away in R3 7 times, R4 4 times and R5 4 times. So not much Cup ambition either by the looks of it. You've been to R5 twice in the League Cup with Ashley so he's improved there though you've only been to R4 in the FA Cup with Ashley so he's about two R5 behind.

NUFC is simply just back to being the team they were prior to Hall/Shepherd 'buying' success by risking the financial stability of the club to do it. You seem to be another converted 92er Mag if you think NUFC had ambition prior to 1992 :lol:
