Sell him to another championship squad you miserable twat. If we get promoted the last thing I give a shit about is paying Cameron Jeromes wages... whinge at anything you lot

 Easy Peasy

A good striker for this league, that we happen to be in..

And then what? I'd rather go with youth and grow the club to the Prem...we've been papering over cracks long enough, why not build a squad??

Sick of this work hard bollocks everyone keeps referring to, we still need quality if the aim is to one day get back up, keep signing players like this and we'll have to buy a whole new squad when we go up which in itself straight away means wholesale changes, big investments etc.

We need to be targetting youth who can develop and play at a higher level, Jerome and Vaughan arent that.

100%ers do not guarantee success and it should be a given attribute when you go to buy a player, If our scouts are singling 'effort' out as a primary attribute to signing players we should just give up now.
There is a high proportion who value perspiration over inspiration, the eye boggling fist pumpers.
That's why bendtner failed to win over so many. I recall not long ago a few were suggesting taking a punt on berbatov who I think was a class player but he would have been roasted by some for not tackling back.
The reality is Jerome is the best we can expect in the pub league but given the progress of maja and purchase of Vaughan it seems a trifle overkill.

The plan is to spend the minimum to give us a squad which will survive and if lucky push for play-offs, with a safe pair of hands in charge, while Short looks for a buyer.

I'd have liked us to see target younger players rather than a 30 year old Cameron Jerome

a trifle overkill we have one senior striker

Not the worst plan in the world really like.

It's not but, The Championship is relentless and we need a capable squad of players.

I agree yeah, I just think people are going over the top about the ages etc

As the poster says, Jerome, Vaughan, McGeady would be competent players at this level.

Everyone would like a few younger ones, but is it priority now? Just need a stable competitive team while we find a buyer

Only worry is a few early losses, you not what our crowd can get like.

I think Jerome would make perfect sense, mate. He's proven at this level and we could have Vaughan and Maja coming in as back up. I'd be a lot more confident with two experienced and one young un, going into the season, with Watmore to also come back.

Yeah I agree

I like him. His finishing is hit and miss but he's powerful

I think him n Vaughan would allow us to play 2 up top as they work so hard

Depends on the price. We won't pay 6 mill for him

While I agree we need quality, the rest is absolute bollocks. We are in a bad situation, we need a good team to help us challenge for promotion.

Why the hell do you want purely youngsters who might not even be good enough?

We need players who can get us promoted.

Absolutely ridiculous post, and slightly arrogant to be honest.

Must be his best ever season? Never seems to strike me as very prolific, strong lad mind and can put himself about but not for £6m for me, half that maybe?

Agreed, 3 mill would be fair.

I'd much much prefer this lad to Hugil like,

It's about striking a balance for me. We need to be bringing young players in/through to sell on for profit, but we need a few experienced professionals who know the league. There's very few examples of clubs that exist and become successful from having a buy to sell policy.

Am I missing something though? We already have 2 young strikers already here, why do we need more?

Crazy, he's f***ing 30 what happened to this young team Grayson was going to build, more bullshit, this clubs f***ing mental.

Who said we were building a young team?

We have 2 highly rate 18 year old strikers ffs who are playing every pre-season game

Jason Steele from Blackburn is the man Grayson wants. 26 year old. Decent reputation. Relegated with Blackburn and he's one of those mutant characters from the Riverside but I'm sure we can let that slide if Grayson gets his man.

Woods - nope, nee idea.

Hmm he faded badly, is he better than Mannone?

Him and Vaughan would be a decent enough striker base given our finances, I'd like to see one more striker with a bit of Champo experience come in though.

Aye, that was my point. Vaughan and Jerome give us that balance of having the two young lads. I'd be looking at fringe players from the Premier League though and adding a possible 5th, probably a loan.
