Callum Doyle


Norwich Fan Perspective:

Callum Doyle has the technical ability to play in the Premier League but is unfortunately just too slow to be effective. He played some superb line-cutting passes all season but often got skinned by Championship wingers for pace, let alone Premier League level wingers. He then moved to CB which was better but unfortunately he would be targeted for pace. Too good technically for the Championship but not enough pace for the Premier League.

He's a real Celtic-type buy.

for me, Ballard is way better than Doyle. I dont think he's good enough, Man city should let him go like what Patrick Roberts did. He's trapped there.

Thats pretty much my take on him from his time here and on each occasion I've seen him since.

For his size he just didn't use his body well enough, which is something which should come with experience, but doesn't appear to be. He's certainly not a dominant centre half, got the ability to play and play left back buy not the pace or desire to defend.

Let's be honest he was an awful defender. Worse than that he didn't seem to want to defend and was far quicker and forceful coming forward than trying to defend. Good left foot though.

He was let down probably as an 17/18 year old playing in an unorganised defence alongside Cirkin and the German keeper who's name I forget and overplayed and each of them suffered. Cirkin showed he had both the ability and resilience to kick on though.

whilst he was decent on the ball it was clear from the off there were limitations with him.

Alex Neil divides opinions but he could organise a defence

And he clearly wasn't a big fan of Doyle

As a few have already said he was ( very ) slow
 
Man city looking for that top team premium.....no way is he worth £6.5m, just because he has come through the ranks at City. The same premium as a Rehan Brewster or Jordan Ibe.

I hate Faes, probably more than any player we've ever had, he's crap with a disgusting attitude but even he was much better than Doyle in the Championship.
