Has anyone ever grown chickpeas? My wife wants me to try, my usual sources do not sell them.

Can you not buy the dried one and then soak them to remove and manmade rubbish, then plant them?
.
Seems a canny deal to a layman like me? 3 *6 of what I think (?) are decent varieties if anyone is looking for Strawberries. Think there is a similar one for raspberries as well.

Free Delivery from Thompsons now (I promise Im not on commission)

When do people start their tomatoes? I've grown them for years from seed and tried everything from late February to April. Initially have them in the house on a South facing window sill. Still can't decide on the optimal time.

I’m going to start ours away from seed this weekend , if all else fails I’ll buy some plants after Easter !

Thinking about starting seed trays off this weekend. Lettuce, tomatoes that sort of thing.
I don't have much window space in this house - but I do have a cheapo plastic greenhouse that I can position south facing. Is it late enough to start?
Temps still seem to be very low overnight for the next couple of weeks.

My dad wants to go out and get some flowers and plants etc and I fancy some large decorative pots for my dwarf fruit trees and maybe some acidic compost.

Any recommendations where is best to go from hetton/easington lane direction. Not too far,.match is on at 3!

Isn't there a garden centre between South Hetton and the A19. Also that Richardsons by the A19.

Dilemma. I have seeds to sow, but I'm going away for 2 weeks around Easter, so I won't be able to water them.

Will things like toms, lettuce etc have any chance if they go dry? I suspect not. And then mid-April will be too late for toms, won't it?

Bought a blueberry plant from home bargains today to try. Anyone tried growing blueberries before?

Got some chillies, peas and onions from Dobbies last week but still have them in their trays in the greenhouse. Don't want to plant them out just yet while there's still a chance of frost

I always start mine off on St.Valentine's Day.
Just been pricking out some yesterday and today.

Make sure you either put a couple of bricks on the bottom shelf or it is very sheltered from the wind.

I had one to start seedlings from each year and had been toying with the idea of a greenhouse. I'd got to the stage where most my seedlings were a few cm tall and needing thinning & potting. A big gust of wind tipped the whole thing over. I was able to salvage a bit but lost half of it. That made the decision about getting the greenhouse.
We had one at work and it completely disappeared after a storm. It was nowhere to be seen 🤣

You can grow them as microgreens on damp trays. You can do the same with lentils etc
Obviously a bit late for that, maybe nex year. Will set them away tomorrow. Marzano and Alicante.
Still time to set them away if you're quick.

Blueberries do best with cross pollination from another plant and eracious soil....birds love them n all so choose the place wisely or cover once they fruit

Got my seeds and some new strawberry & raspberry plants ordered yesterday. Feeling excited to get the season started. Though it is still really cold and probably too early to start a lot of stuff.
