How do you water them, just a watering can on the top, or is that central pole something related to irrigation?
It looks to me like the pipe down the centre is designed to do no more than to get the plant to creep up, so you would just irrigate from the base. I have never seen strawberry plants creep that far though, and certainly not in the upward direction, but it seems like it is a tried and tested method.
For me the tricky bit would be keeping the birds off of them, because they really stand out against the pipe. I am going to be trying to encourage mustard leaves to grow nearby, as happened by accident last year. When they bolted and went huge it seemed to frighten the birds off.
