C.C. Durham v Yorkshire (h)

Should of achieved maximum batting points but Rhodes and Robbo look horribly out of form.

Extras with 18 was the 4th highest scorer going to take an outstanding effort to win with 3 bowlers.

As Rhodes has only taken 4 wickets in 5 wickets innings.

Going to need a Potts wonder spell.

427 all out.

Can’t help but feel that’s lower than we should have been
Another one I've not been able to see much of. But another one that on paper that looks just very poor.

301/1 after 75.2 overs
427 after 106.2 overs

So we lost 9/126 from 31 overs. That's a batting collapse worthy of a side that is staring at relegation so far.

A Durham win unless we pull off a superb bowling effort is now the least likely result.

He's been a top 3 batsman for years and won a CC captaining there. Now the club/him want to turn him back into the 6/7 all rounder he started his career as.

It makes fuck all sense.
Same as Gay they both feel like they are hoping they improve average 35 both of them over a long period.

Rhodes wanted to bowl more why he moved up but his bowling is pretty averages roughly 1 wicket per match.

Not seen enough of him to know what his strengths are as batsman but he has 12 first class hundreds in over 100 first class games.

Hope he comes good but initial signs looks nothing special.

Rhodes was a bit of an unusual signing for me, I presumed when it was announced we were going to sign him, that they saw him as a captain but he doesn't really fit into the side bad start or not. Gay is 25 and averages 35 FC and almost 40 in List A so there's a lot of potential to work with there.

Some decent part time options

I thought it would be between McKinney/Gay to partner Lees and Rhodes slotting in at 3. Seeing as it's where both played last season.

We have no batsman coming through as we barely had a second XI last season. So we had to sign some batsman from other county sides. Gay and Rhodes got so much career left so I think good signings. Just a don't get the logic on reinventing Rhodes at this point in his career.

As we've lost Bedders to injury and later international duty and then may lose McKinney to internationals too. Both may well end up moving where they played before we signed them.

For only 3 of them to score over 20 runs on a flat deck is poor. You aren't going to win many first-class matches if you have well over half your side not contributing at all with the bat or ball, which has been our season so far.

Reading this thread i had assumed we're getting hammered, i eas so depressed until i looked up at the scoreboard and realised we're actually 79 ahead and only 6 down having batted through gloom with sunshine overhead now.
The SMB is such a happy place

Think we all had high hopes for competing at the top this season. So far we’ve looked like relegation contenders
