C.C. Durham v Yorkshire (h)

Well the good luck charm that is red telephone lasted as long as a jonah like me with regards to starting the match thread.
I have just read my pre-amble to the Notts match and I have to say I'm not as optimistic as I was 2 weeks ago.
As far as the Yorkshire game goes two weeks into the season and injuries and poor early season individuals form appear to be taking hold. The bowling for me is still more of a concern than the batting ( what do we do with these seamers that they break down so often) if Hogg is not fit I'm not sure what they do bring in a spinner or another seamer.
As far as the batting goes if Bedders is not fit and they replace him with Clark then he can't bat at 7 in the order they have to at least give the bloke a chance. Either they think he is good enough and bat him in the middle where a specialist batsmen should be playing or play someone else.
After seeing the wicket on Saturday I wouldn't be surprised if there is a bit more grass left on for this one.
Anyway hopefully whatever Xl they come up with we beat the Tykes as I'm on a pair in the third week in April ( although Gay managed that in the first week)

The talk at the game was that Bedingham is out for the next three games. I was talking to an ITK who said that Root and Brook are due to be playing a CC game but not the Durham game. Robinson should be coming in at No7 in my opinion.

Yeah it's getting to the stage where they have to change something. I doubt in the short term it harms him for England as there is probably 3 or 4 ahead of him now on the curcuit.

Last time we played Yorkshire at home, we beat them by 1 wicket! Could be a repeat of yesterday
That last morning was one of the most nerve wracking I can remember watching Durham. Every single run was cheered.

We may get a draw if the weather is iffy but unless our batting improves and Potts is allowed to play then I can see defeat No.3 looming on the horizon.

Looks like New Zealand fast bowler Ben Sears will be making his debut for Yorkshire tomorrow.

Hopefully Root and Brook still don’t fancy it.

Think they have only been made available for 1 CC game, against Warwickshire next month. Certainly no reports they'll be in the squad for this one, although Yorks have plenty to pick from anyway - Lyth, Malan, Bairstow, Coad, Bess and Sears are all high level CC players.
The ECB have stated that Root & Brook are not allowed to play tomorrow.

It is good weather for golf tbf.

Steady now. Our 2 most important players I’d argue in a big big year. Let’s let them be for a bit, they’ll be on the road pretty much from a year from the Zimbabwe test.

Ah it was just a thinly veiled bit of banter. The only thing that really pisses me off is that England players will be made available for the 16.4, when allowing them a couple of championship appearances probably does more for their form and also could stick a few on the CC gates.
