Morecambe goalkeeper Barry Roche made two excellent saves in a goalless first half to deny Michael Doyle and Jonson Clarke-Harris.

But anyway, even if they did agree, had Barnet averaged even just a point a game in their previous 45 matches before today, they wouldn't have been in this position.

They’re unlikely to pass it around all match, but I find it likely the last 20 mins or so were played at a snails pace.

Remember AC Milan needing a point to win lo scudetto one year against a team who needed a point to stay up....

For 80 mins it was like a testimonial then Milans Centre Half, Costacurta, pretended to have an attempt from about 40 yards....and it flew in.

The opposition kicked off in a 3-1-6 formation and the Milan midfield parted like the Red Sea and this bloke ran at the last man, the legend that was Franco Baresi.....who would usually let either the ball or the man get past. But not both.

Miraculously Franco put the weakest and worst tackle of his illustrious career in, and the oppo walked the equaliser in.

For the last few minutes Milan passed the ball across the back 4 whilst the oppo ( Udinese I think) pretended to Harry them a bit...

1-1 final score. Everyone' a winner.

Used to have an Albanian labourer working with us. He’d done a bit of helping out with the cigarette and drug boats on isolated Italian and Albanian beaches in the middle of the night before coming to London. He knew some seriously dodgy characters.

He made more money on Italian and French football than he did on his wages and becos me and my marra were serious about match gannin (prime time Reid era) he cut us in on the forrin footie action for a year or so. Helped fund match going. He’d only show us the betting slip once the games had all kicked off.

It’s all about favours over there. “We won’t try but next time we need you to not try you make sure you don’t”. Some favours are still owed 30 plus years later......and he knew which ones they were.
UK bookies are wise to it now though.
