Little line in there that he may miss the end of this India series as well due to the 2nd child being born....I'd consider this the best opportunity to move on

This is just the first of many you will hear about if the Ashes isn’t cancelled first. No guarantee any of the 3 you mention will choose to go. If it goes ahead I can see us having the farcical situation of some players going for part of the tour and others for the rest.

I'm sure all things being equal Buttler would prefer to be able to play tests.

But all things are not equal.

By playing tests he's probably lowering his earning potential and increasing his workload.

We can bang on on cricket forums about the primary of test cricket and whatever but the fact is the money is in the white ball game and if you make life too much of a pain for a valued white ball player to play tests, then when push comes to shove we'll see just how much primacy test cricket has in the minds of the people who matter - the players.

Is the ashes tour any different to what the players had to do all winter and last summer where they are in bubbles?
India toured there last winter as well

An ECB central contract is worth £870,000 and once you add sponsorship it's up over £1.5m a year for players like Buttler. Which is more than all of his franchise contracts combined.

For an Englishman, being in the Test team it is still the most lucrative career.
