Why Gerrin? They are a PL side. The last thing we wanted. I would have hated a fellow League One side. But we have the worst kind of opposition for a L1 side - a Premier League club. They will trounce us in the first few minutes.

i think he meant that we can graciously get knocked out without much fuss, rather than getting knocked out at home to a L2 side, or even worse the mags. plus its away so no one will be that bothered. even a home game against a championship side would be canny shit. this is the best way, keep our heads down, get knocked out, no daft injuries, concentrate on the league

Also people assuming that this would be an automatic win for Burnley because they're a PL side.. check out his history in cups with Burnley. The only game he hasn't simply thrown in the cup was to Blackburn as he knew what the fans would think of it. He doesn't like cup competitions and his only goal each season is 40 league points.
