I back the choice as it sounds like a personality / professionalism thing too, but it did seem to me after that ton earlier in the season that he had really started to crack it as a middle order red-ball batsman
 
Very disappointing as he was in good form at the start of the season. If the rumours are true he only has himself to blame.

That ton was as good as it got for him and after that he couldn't even get runs for the 2nds in the T20s. By the end he was little more than Chief Cheerleader in the field.

If I said I was surprised about the nature of his departure I'd be lying.
