British couple in iran

Tbf people people used to cycle through Iran when cycling on routes through to china. Silk road route I think. As it happens my son is cycling through Turkey Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan etc en route to China later In the year. Not everyone has an ulterior motive.
Is he going through Iran or Russia?

Youtube is full of people exploring in many shapes and forms and places . Not everyone wants to stay in the town and prop their experience up with having a pop at people on the Internet.
I follow very few but this week I've watched A Canadian going across Afghanistan on a bike
An English bloke in South Korea back packing and a bloke on one of those lie down bikes in Afrcia . Nora ( itchy boots ) is Dutch and rode through Iran twice .
They've jailed them because unlike their people they're wackos who are using travellers as currency when they feel like .
If you think they're spies, what can they find out riding around villages we don't already know ?
It’s the Iranians that think they are spies not me. I have no powers of arrest or any designated authority to confine people in Evin prison.

You said they must be up to something and them being in jail proved your point . You said they'd entered somewhere illegaly they hadn't
You say stuff so I comment.
Well the truth of the matter is I don’t know any facts relating to this but I’m assuming the Iranians do.

The simple fact is what you think or what I think does not matter.

They have been locked up for potentially 10 years. I still think that going to Iran on a bike is not the brightest thing to do and on that score I have been proven to be right as evidenced by the outcome.

hard to disagree. unnecessary risk and theyve paid the price

Why? You go every year for a month and you’re still here
Well , I spend a lot of the trip playing poker and sitting amongst absolute
morons who voted that scumbag in again is not something am particularly looking forward to. I applaud all those Canadians who sacked off the USA. The worse the economy gets over there the sooner the world is finally rid of the Putin loving shitbag.

The thing is, theyve planned a shit route. If they had got through Iran, they then had to negotiate Afghanistan and Pakistan which I imagine will be dodgy.

Been better off ferrying it over the Caspian Sea and skirting round the top of all them countries. Insane journey they were doing

So you’re not in any danger then it’s just a political thing? Up to you but I wouldn’t be letting politics dictate my holidays like it’s probably the last thing I think about who the taxi driver, waiter, etc votes for.

I don’t know much about this story but I do know it’s unwise to enter an oppressive Islamic state illegally.

I’m sure they would have had a much nicer time in Marbella.

Or even Cleethorpes.
They applied for and were granted visas for Iran. They fucked up by taking too many fotos and interviewing locals.

What the international community needs is to send one of the drone “auditors”.

They would ask all the hard questions, set their lip up and then they could film their own execution.
It's difficult to operate a drone with your hands tied behind your back
