British couple in iran

Why is Israel on the list?

I would add Yemen and Afghanistan. And about 10 African countries.
Edit:

FCDO advises against all travel

  1. Afghanistan – “The security situation is volatile”
  2. Belarus – “You face a significant risk of arrest”
  3. Burkina Faso – “Due to the threat of terrorist attacks and terrorist kidnap”
  4. Haiti – “Due to the volatile security situation”
  5. Iran – “British nationals are at significant risk of arrest”
  6. Mali – “Due to unpredictable security conditions”
  7. Niger – “Due to the rise of reported terrorist and criminal kidnappings”
  8. Russia – “Due to the risks and threats from its continuing invasion of Ukraine”
  9. South Sudan – “Due to the risk of armed violence and criminality”
  10. Syria – “Ongoing conflict and unpredictable security conditions”
  11. Venezuela – “a ‘state of external commotion’ due to air strikes on targets across the country”
  12. Yemen – “Unpredictable security conditions”
13. London ;)

I don’t know much about this story but I do know it’s unwise to enter an oppressive Islamic state illegally.

I’m sure they would have had a much nicer time in Marbella.

Or even Cleethorpes.

They didnt
Ok

It seems strange that they are in jail then.

I fail to see why any rational human being would want to go Iran unless there was an ulterior motive.

Anyway all this conjecture is immaterial.

The Iranians have decided to imprison them for ten years.

I think that kinda proves my point.

Tbf people people used to cycle through Iran when cycling on routes through to china. Silk road route I think. As it happens my son is cycling through Turkey Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan etc en route to China later In the year. Not everyone has an ulterior motive.

Youtube is full of people exploring in many shapes and forms and places . Not everyone wants to stay in the town and prop their experience up with having a pop at people on the Internet.
I follow very few but this week I've watched A Canadian going across Afghanistan on a bike
An English bloke in South Korea back packing and a bloke on one of those lie down bikes in Afrcia . Nora ( itchy boots ) is Dutch and rode through Iran twice .
They've jailed them because unlike their people they're wackos who are using travellers as currency when they feel like .
If you think they're spies, what can they find out riding around villages we don't already know ?

Im not saying this couple, but I have often wondered how many people who get arrested for being spies actually are. I mean, we will clearly have spies In places like Iran and they will clearly have a cover ( they wont be James Bond types).
They will be exactly like them two
