Just been reading some comments from Villa fans, and their pre-match thread, and it’s obvious we are flying a bit below the radar.

There are comments about how we are safe now and therefore might lack intensity. One comment literally says we are “on the beach” :lol:

At the same time they are saying how important it is to win today to move further away from Chelsea.

The fact we can go ahead of Chelsea today after equal games and with only 5 left seems completely unaware to them. Including Forest and Wolves next and Chelsea themselves still to play at home.

I suspect the pundits in the studio today will be the same. Love to be proved wrong but I anticipate the pre match will be all about Villas champions league hopes with a little bit on how “plucky” Sunderland are having a good season.

Probably not a bad thing for us but not sure if it’s ignorance (To be fair I wouldn’t really know exactly where Bournemouth, Brentford, Palace etc… are in the table if I hadn’t looked) or the perception of a newly promoted club but even nearly 90% of the way through the season it seems most fans are still oblivious to how in the mix we are.

A Sunderland win along with Everton brings Villa & Liverpool closer to the middle of the table chasing pack.
 
The random fan pundit cast I watched was very measured and complimentary. Hopefully villa are 2-3 years on from us in their model. Tbf I feel quite an affection for the villains atm - completely different from other teams at the top of the table.
