They wouldn't. If two real Madrid fans got stabbed in Central London the night before playing Chelsea English clubs wouldn't be kicked out of European competitions. That's a fact.

Now if two real Madrid fans got stabbed inside Stamford Bridge or outside the turnstiles then that would be a different matter (likewise in this scenario)

True it’s why the police presence outside champions league games is immense. UEFA need to protect the brand. If it happens away from stadia then it can (in their eyes) be disassociated from the game.

In a city like Rome, how do you identify who is a fan of which football club? If these blokes weren’t in Brighton colours, how do you even identify them?

You just tend to know. Having followed england away all over and you can spot a fellow English fan a mile off despite not wearing any colours

It’s arse cheek they go for, not up the arse. They do it because it’s unpleasant for the sufferer but highly unlikely to be fatal so they don’t end up with murders on their hands. Roma and Lazio fans are absolutely horrific.
