Brennan Johnson (signed for Palace)

overpriced I ama fraid..when you look at what we paid for some of our players, its clear there is better value to be had outside of the premier league

Errrr... No. He may be quick, he may score a couple of goals but he is not the calibre of player we want or need at this time and he will be over priced. Better options out there in the real world.

is he really any better than what we've got?

He is, aye.

Yes, but we are close to the edge on the amount of non-homegrown players we can carry in the squad. So alas, in future recruitment windows we are going to have to pay the English tax. Or sell foreign players to make room.

I don't know who to believe.

I'm going with the "he's not no" crowd though i'm afraid.

Rather have Brennan Jerrys mesel.

Brennan Johnson would be a good signing for us.

He was good at Forest. He hasn’t been great at Tottenham. But we are more like Forest, in our style of play and ethos.

He would be overpriced. But we are going to have to pay through the nose for English players, or we are going to have to sell. We are too close to the edge of the rules on foreign players. Obviously in the long-run, selling is what we will do. But this is the one position where we haven’t invested, the weakest spot in our team.

I don’t think we will sign him. I don’t think we will sign anyone tbqh, apart from maybe Guendozi who the boss clearly wants. But it wouldn’t be a bad signing. He’s a good player who fits our style. But aye, he’d be overpriced, no doubt about that.

I don’t think it’s as simple as that. The psychology of getting your first big move, earning an eye watering wage then having to step back down after being perceived as failing shouldn’t be underestimated.

Some players rediscover their resolve. Others never find that drive again. We’ve had plenty of the latter and not so many of the former.

It’s a high value / high risk transfer I don’t think we’ll go anywhere near.

Not a chance we would pay 50 million for a player recycled through several clubs, especially one who isn't particularly great. It goes against the total ethos of how the club is being run at present.

For the remainder of this I say we don’t need a thing as our goal is to survive. Next season we can reassess our goals but for now, stick to the plan of survival.
