Brennan Johnson (signed for Palace)

No, but sooner or later we are going to need to start buying the odd homegrown player.

Those players are generally terrible value, so will probably have to be either an up and coming player from the championship or a rehabilitation project from the premier league IMO.

Johnson kind of fits that bill for the latter, though if probably prefer we went for the former.
Don’t agree….we have enough talent in this department and they need game time. Yes our wingers haven’t set the world alight but they have had a lot of defensive work to put ( don’t think Johnson has this in his game) in an are feeding on scraps. There is a reason Johnson is being touted for sale… probably because he is not doing enough and maybe his attitude does not impress the manager. A major strength of our recruitments is we buy players who buy into the work and team ethic of the club…. Not sure he would.
Also if we are to spend big it needs to be a midfield powerhouse.

Hard working , team player who scores quite a few goals. Hes like our wingers but with a goal threat. As it stands he'd improve us, anyone saying otherwise is being a tad silly imo.
Why would we want any spurs players? They’re all on massive wages and massively underperforming?!
I'd snap your hands off Bergval.

I know, I said no to signing him! 🤷‍♂️

Mentally fragile.
They all are. It’s been a Spurs thing since the mid 60s. Yet as a club they keep doing the same thing. Using the same parameters for signing players and appointing managers and wonder why all they get are fancy dans and easy lifers. The few genuine top class players never hang around for long enough to help things change.
They’ll nivver be in the position we were in to just go out and buy a new team, partly because they think they think their players are capable of getting them where they want to be and partly becos they’ve not got the financial headroom. Plus they wouldn’t risk bargain hunting for a Reinaldo, Alderrette or Mukiele…….and Sadiki is now already beyond them.
I think it’s finally sunk in with the owners and they’ve got rid of Levy. Will it work?

Although I wouldn’t take him. You could see he would be the type of player Speakman etc would look at. Hes still young, had a difficult past year after a massive money move to Spurs. For the right price could see it as a bit of a project to get the lad back on track. He’s obviously got talent and might thrive in our environment and setup.

A 24 year old with a goal or assist every 2.5 games across his 120 Premier League games.

He can also play all across the front 3.

It'd be a no brainer and despite our excellent start, we are not really in a position to be turning our nose up at players like him mind.

This

If we had a wide player with that output we'd be even higher in the league.

Ability wise he looks exactly what we need. But for me he doesn't look consistent enough since he moved.

He was a big fish in Forests pond but less so at Spurs and I think that, coupled with the distractions of Lahndon, seem to have impacted on his performances and/or mentality. Literally no one gets carried in our team just now and theres also no room for any sort of player who thinks just turning out is enough. It's 100% in all aspects of your game or unfortunately you have to fight your way back in. I just get the impression he's started believing his own hype since the big money move and that wouldn’t float here just now.

The money wanted too is ridiculous. Spurs would want AT LEAST what they paid and even that imho was too much. The old British player tax in full effect.

26 goals and 19 assists in 120 league games over the last 4 seasons.

It's not a bad return, but it's not exceptional and given that he's an established Premier League player his price tag will be inflated way above what his performances merit.

No chance.
