Brendon McCullum

Ah right yeah, Telegraph now saying Colly will be appointed white ball!

I have to stay two great appointments, IMO anyway

I am fairly excited for the future now, convinced both teams can improve considerably under good management and selection.
Listening to Key speaking with Nasser think the only way is up for the test team, need to have a positive outlook across the board and hopefully and I think the test team will definitely improve.

I’m not too worried about the lack of coaching

Although Silverwood did do well initially, people forget that. I don’t think coaching Essex had much relevance to international cricket in the end.

He's done 3 seasons of IPL and CPL coaching.

I thought he retired later from New Zealand mind. Colly played for England more recently!!!

Was going to say him having played at the highest level very recently is a more interesting approach than everyone else has taken.

We talk about the fact the commentary gets a bit stale on Sky them going on an about the 90s early 00s. In the same way that coaching from guys that gave up their professional careers 20 years ago it could also end up being stale.

Ha The bit about retiring isn’t true like mate

He played against in England in 2015 and our attack included stokes, Anderson and broad!

Collys last international game was 2017

I thought McCullum retired after colly was all.

It's not like McCullum been out of the game as a player at a high level with IPL etc.

Absolutely aye

Think Wood was in and around the team too.
Just looked at it and it was world XI vs pakistan his england days ended in 2011

I thought i was seeing things haha, cos my brain was a bit blown by that.

Well ignore the idiot that is me. Just still thought mccullum had retired a lot later, guess seeing him in the IPL/BBL threw me a bit.

7 years feels so long ago but also really close.

Key could do worse than ask Nasser or Butch for advice when needed, think this is an exciting appointment with the potential to be very good or very bad, it wont be middling.
Stokes and Mccullum will gel imo

Selection is the next key thing

I’m not one for change for changes sake but they need to make a couple

Hard to start a new era with just the same players
