Boycott Qatar

I just wish it was here already, I can’t wait it is going to be an amazing World Cup. Teams like Brazil, France and Belgium are going to light up this competition, but worried about England now but what an absolutely amazing build up to Christmas.

It dampens the excitement of Santa's visit...like having a birthday on Xmas day.

If you're talking about Chi Onwurah then I feel she has zero morals, as long as keeps being elected and thus, maintaining her cushy number.
This is a woman who raised Mike Ashley's ownership and treatment of Sports Direct owners in parliament on THREE ocasions. Since Newcastle have been owned by arguably the most cruel regime since National Socialism (anyone see Soccer Aid last week for a snippet?) - absolutely nothing.
She is abhorrent and knows fine-well if she rocked the boat and lost support of football fans, she wouldn't have her place in parliament. Its about Chi and Chi only.

Edmund Burke had it sussed

I was referring to her Constituency Labour Party. It seems to have remained rather muted.

Sunderland is a unique place, the biggest and most passionate fanbase when you account for the lack of success in recent years, plus you're a proper community. I'm a member of 6 other forums, and there is no comparrison regarding togetherness and pact mentality. Imagine taking a boycott poll in here, then pre match for a few games...we'd probably get thousands of signatures judging by the comments on this thread. You could then take these stats to other forums, set an example. But it wouldn't have to stop there, as there are plenty in other countries to appeal to. It takes a stretch of the immagnation, but what a thing of greatness for a great club to instigate.

Yeah, I'm a hopeless optimist, but I believe anything is possible.

Watching it on tele won't contribute to the viewing figures, thats not how they calculate them. They get about 5000 people who agree to have their viewing monitored and they extrapolate it. So if you're one of the 5,000 then not watching will have a large effect as it would take about 12,000 off the viewing figures. If you aren't then your watching it won't increase the figures at all. So I'll be watching on BBC and itv and not buying any merchandise

Interesting, thanks for this. I wasn’t certain if that had changed now everything has gone digital through iplayer etc. Either way trying to hit their pockets and refuse to ignore their crimes seems like the best method

Saint Gareth on taking the knee in Qatar:
"It's hugely complex, there are ‘cultural differences’ between Britain and Qatar to factor in, too. What’s more, ‘[We], as a nation, do a lot of business with Qatar… I was reading about Rolls Royce, 10,000 new jobs."

Never mind about gay rights and whatnot, we need cars for rich people!

No hypocrisy though eh @Hair Flick ?
There’s raging hypocrisy everywhere Mr Sausage. It’s just funny watching it play out on here from those who can see it in others but not in themselves. The ultimate hypocrisy you might say.

For the record, I identify as a hypocrite.

I won’t be watching it- I support anti- racism in football. I’ve never booed the knee, but I can understand why people do it- for reasons I’ve explained. I don’t need to be lectured to by organisations that will turn a blind eye to human rights abuses if there’s considerable financial gain to be had.

They’ll be watching on their illegal exploitative IPTV and streams man, even the BBC who should be defunded, especially that weasely lead wokist Lineker. They’ll be sure to let us know their thoughts and commenting, same as they did for the Euros. But then telling us all how they’re boycotting. And booing of course. And wanting their country to lose.

These are the true patriots who are so genuinely concerned about the rights of dark skinned people from third world countries being exploited right up to the point they hand over their life savings to criminal gangs and people traffickers to have a chance to climb into a dinghy on a French beach then suddenly their concerns disappear.

But at least they’re not hypocrites though.

.. Think this says more about you than anyone else tbh ..

I only mentoned fans, I don't have an entry pass to the higher table of hypocrisy, but in saying that, it is almost impossible to be human and not be a hypocrite, for it is also a tool for survival. Stop this going ahead and you change much more. We have to live with chaos and injustices because of natural and financal differences, but smashing a big one would have ripples.

Regardless, the World Cup will go ahead and be outstanding.

People will virtue signal elsewhere.

There will be another outlet for faux-outrage.

Hypocrisy will remain rife on RTG.
It will go ahead. I will watch it. Dunno why the fuck you're banging on about any of that shite to me.

I don't think it'll be outstanding. They very rarely are.

Inglun won't get close to winning it.
How so? I heard it was their being submissive before a ball was even kicked that stopped them doing anything last time round. Surely now they’ve knocked that on the head, they’ll have all those anti-Marxist lads fully behind them cos that was the only thing stopping them from getting behind them before?

 Much tougher than the Euro's. It'll be roasting.

I didn’t know about that. I don’t want to be a hypocrite through lack of knowledge, so now you have said I will not watch the world cup and will not buy a Rolls Royce.
It’s be far more effective boycotting the sponsors, that will actually hurt them

Cheers. Coke, Schwepps lemonaid and Oasis are the most likely to be bought in my house, so I’ll avoid them. Adidas is the only other brand I’m likely to go for out of those. I don’t have a Visa card. Just not buying for a few weeks is not very significant, so I might do a year from now then it is around 6 months either side.

I could mail them and tell them, but I suspect they will not care! So someone like Pride needs to do some bigger things aimed directly at them.

You should mail them, enough people do and they will care
