Bournemouth Champions League

Read an article this morning that suggested if Bournemouth get into the Europa League or worse, the Conference they might end up with sanctions because of their player spend due to European competitions being tighter. However getting into the champions league should create the revenue to cover it.

I’m assuming the Semenyo money covers a different trading year or something?

Anyway, on the pitch, lose your best player in January & kick on is impressive. They’ve not looked anything better than decent when we’ve played them like.

UEFA financial rules as stricter than PL financial rules they cap your spending on wages etc at 70% of your revenue whereas the PL is 85%.

The revenue you get for the EL and UECL is peanuts compared to the UCL.

Well, that’s sort of what I said

Does make you think how clubs will handle finances though. It’s not a small amount. Us, Bournemouth, Brentford, Everton, Fulham, Brighton. Try to push, or compete to get into those European places which demonstrates success, or hold back a bit as if you get there you could have pushed too hard & get some kind of punishment.

Suppose the next question is, what’s the punishment? A fine, you might stomach, if it’s more serious like points, that’s an issue. Could you be docked points for a league campaign that’s inside spending by a European body? Would it be points in the European competition you’re playing in?

Fuck knars.

If they win their last two and finish on 61 is there a huge chance they get 5th? Villa play Liverpool then Man City
Fair play to them. Decent team and have done well after having a good chunk of their team from last season poached.

Chelsea or Man Utd are crazy if neither go for Iraola
Clearly who ever does the analytics and recruitment for Bournemouth is a genius too
3 of their whole back 4 was sold from under him and brand new players to prem brought in and they look just as tight
Big injuries to front players and lost Semenyo to city
Amazing stuff
Iraola would be crazy to go to Chelsea, wouldn't be surprised to see him at Man Utd - certainly more likely than going to Palace, surely?

Proper tin pot Mickey Mouse club

I’m jealous

And hoping we can continue the upward curve like them

All with our morals intact unlike the dirt up the road

Still can’t get my head around that one. Would be an unbelievable appointment by Palace.

Aye it seems strange at first glance, but they obviously want to push on and while Glasner will be forever remembered for that FA Cup win, they've struggled a bit in the league.

Not that they'll care if they win the UEFA Conference League, but they could easily finish 16th if they treat their last few games as a training exercise.

This was kind of the reason why some aren’t keen on Europe yet imo.

I don’t mean from Palace’s perspective, I mean from Iraola’s perspective it’s a strange move.

You’d assume the likes of Chelsea & Man U will be strongly interested in him. Maybe even established European teams in Spain.

Palace just seems a sideways move at best, probably downwards step if you look at the two squads.

Surely be crazy to go to Palace. It's a sideways step club-wise, but also it'll be difficult coming in to replace Palace's greatest ever manager.

He might do better than Glasnor in the league, but highly unlikely he'll win a trophy - nevermind the two that Glasnor will have likely won by the time he goes. If he goes in and gets them to 8th/9th, it's a decent achievement but doesn't move the needle/improve his rep a great deal.

Not sure anyone can use PSR, or whatever it’s called as a reason. None of us know if financially it would be an issue to us in the same way.

Not that I agree with it, but those that say the extra games would stretch us have a point. That said, extra games = bigger squad, bigger spend. Still we cannot be afraid to be successful based upon a fear success will mean tighter cash flow restrictions in future.

Surely he’d be looking at Glasner who’s done well but also the fact he’s publicly said that him & team has been thrown under the bus with selling their best players at key times.

Iraola appears to be at a club that know they need to sell at the right time, but do it openly & with a longer term plan.

From the outside it wouldn’t make sense to swap.

Thing is, we’ve played them twice & they’ve looked no better than us. Can say we were unlucky not to get six points
Just two games out of their season though, and they weren't at their best in either game, it happens. I saw some Fulham fans on twitter who have decided we're shite and lucky not to be going down, just because they beat us twice without having to play well themselves, and are ignoring all the other league games where we haven't been playing Fulham.
