Boro’s Saudi Banner

Oh bless.
And who do you think xares about Sunderland?
Oh yeah......... Sunderland!
I think Boro have had good support on this thread from genuine Sunderland fans re your banner -some others if you read the thread are very dubious at best as to who they actually follow -maybe you need to consider that before sniping on what is after all an safc forum .

Fair comment.

I'm a Boro fan and fairly regular long-term poster on here. I agree the support for the Boro banner has generally been positive and genuine.

After the initial outcry from fans up and down the country about the Newcastle takeover things have settled down. It's important in my view as a genuine football lover that the travesty that took place is not allowed to go off the radar. The Boro banner played a small part in that but it realistically needs more to be done by fans everywhere.

As an outsider I think Sunderland fans should stick to their their values and morals (which are no different to Boro fans despite the banter) and make a stand and get some banner/s on display rather than worrying about it maybe looking like jealously, not been approved by the club (SAFC) or any other concerns mentioned. This is about what is right and wrong.

Yesterday's banner at The Riverside about the Saudi takeover wasn't the first and it won't be the last. Let's keep this issue high on the national football agenda.

Need one pushing the FA for some "Transparency regarding Newcastle Takeover" ;-)

One of the first comment on the twitter link...

Replying to

Possibly the most cringeworthy banner ever seen at a football ground. Embarrassed for them.

Obviously never saw the "this is not where nufc is all about" one. Probably doesn't go to matches...

Your banner was spot on so credit to the boro….a number of undercover mags on here as you should know.

Spot on and well done.

I honestly think the club would stop any anti Saudi flag. Sorry if it’s already been mentioned but has anyone from SO37 sounded that out yet ?

I have no idea if there's any 'undercover mags' on here.
All well and good the likes of we three kings accusing me of sniping, all I did was respond to a posters dig at Boro - of which there's been more than one on this thread.

Fair play Boro, I suggest something similar for a Sky game. Put it in the East stand at the front so it's seen please.

How about we just do a deal with Boro and borrow their banners?

I assume the Boro lads would be more than happy if it gets more exposure.
As I say, it’s been discussed. The timing has to be right too.

Fuck the 'timing'. Do they assess the 'timing' when they bomb Yemen schools?

Get it done man.

PS - And if you need some cash for it, I am happy to chip in.

Wrong wording using Geordies mind mate

If any banner uses the word 'Geordie' then it accuses me and 5 of the people I go to Sunderland matches with including my two daughters.

For the avoidance of doubt, a Geordie is a person from Tyneside. A mag is a person who supports Newcastle United. They are NOT the same thing. I am a Geordie who supports Sunderland.

PS - If you think you hate the mags, then its nothing compared to how much we do.

South Tyneside here mate 👍

Not sure what I’m classed as but not really arsed. Just know we should be aiming this at Newcastle United and Saudi. Using the word Geordies starts bringing in a section of the region that aren’t involved necessarily involved.

Palace are nowt to do with the North East and pushed it so Boro have every right to. Based on how loud their ground was when we went in September (and I appreciate that it’s their big game) their fan culture is really good at the minute.
Tbf my mates from back home who follow boro have been critical about their atmosphere this season.

The time is now. As much pressure on the saudi mags as possible.

If this can’t go through the normal display lads then surely there is some one on here who knows where we could get something produced. I’d absolutely chip in.

Haway let’s get this off the ground.

Agree here.
Don't let the black and white bastards speak for an entire region. The "geordie nation" thing was basically marketing.

Funny thing is, a few generations ago, Geordie was something that applied generically to anyone from the NE, especially if you were working away.

Fair play mate and the fact some of our fans are having a go at Boro for this is utterly pathetic.

I can sort of see why Sunderland fans don't want to get involved with this but we of all clubs should. Our nearest rivals have been taken over by a murderous regime and the media are happily sportswashing that. We should be all over it every game especially if its on the TV.

I am dissapointed at our fans for the lack of critisism. We are their nearest rivals and we should make a stand.

Yeah it's about time we had a one.

I honestly wish some people would realise the amount of hoops we jump through to put anything on.

The only time we’ve made a genuine mistake was the material we used for the Quinn display. Some could say that we fucked up wembley but we were told it was all in hand and we have the proof of that.

The only time we’ve made a genuine mistake was the material we used for the Quinn display. Some could say that we fucked up wembley but we were told it was all in hand and we have the proof of that.

A few examples…

We organised the stripes for the playoff. The club realised a fan group were doing more than them and put the cats eyes on at the last minute.

We raised a fortune for Wembley. They fucked up the order and left us to take the blame.

They made us pick up all the cards after the Coventry display. It was going to take us days so they promised signed photos for people who came in to help tidy up. It took them 6 months to send them out.

They changed the time that volunteers could go into the ground a day before a set up.

The insisted that we always clear up after a display.

They have promised us proper storage at the back of the south stand for years, we’re still waiting.

They cancelled boro display because they think it’s our displays that cause “missiles” be thrown on the pitch. There’s been more objects thrown when there’s no displays than when there is displays.

They promised they’d explain to fans why boro was cancelled, they didn’t.

They stopped us putting passion pride wearside in the east stand ahead of boro.

They mentioned a worry about the boro game because of the March we organised. It went o perfectly, with no bother whatsoever.

They told us we could make a banner in the stadium and that we should cut the letters out in the car park. It was pissing down.

They knew about the boro display in July and said in January they knew nothing about it.

They told us they’d create a document in july, for us to submit display plans. They reiterated this promise in January. We’ve still not got it, despite repeated requests.
