Boothferry Park - 50 years ago

Any old fuckers there as young lads that night in Hull, close on 50 years ago. The second replay against Dirty Leeds in the fifth round?

When people whine about refs these days I just laugh. Nowt, f***ing no-one, nowhere, was ever like Ken Stokes that night.
aye fucked us up good and proper the bassa. Seem to remember getting put on a freight type train truck and standing to be shuttled to the ground?--safe standing ya fucka:lol: Cant remember how we actually got down there as my Dad would often drive but sometimes use supporters transport--wasn't a long shuttle.
Said this to you before but JC my hero so had my hair "crew cut left down"

Both Mark Metcalf's; Charley Hurley and Lance Hardy's; Stokoe 73 books cover it in some detail. Both provide a very damning assessment of Revie corroborated by Leeds players.

Even George Herd..a gentleman of a player..sent off.. along with Mulhall.
i was there, must've been 17. i remember both georges getting sent off lte in the 2nd half and thinking strange predicament for those two! but always thought it was at norwich for some reason?

I was there, me mates dad took us.
f***ing dirty Leeds and that bastard Ken Stokes.
Was years later when Revie was found out for fixing games.

Yes, I was there as a 16 year old. Never forget it. Totally robbed.
"Ken Stokes we will get you in the end....."
Remember it well. Skipped school for the day, One of the biggest injustices I can remember at a football game. I don't think George Herd ever got booked. I still cannot get "Ken Stokes we will get you in the end....." out of my head now

I was there. Got the train from Sunderland direct to a platform adjoining one of the stands at Boothferry Park. And yes Ken Stokes is still a C**t

I was 20 at the time and went with my Dad on one of the many buses. Like George Mulhall, I am still angry about the penalty which should never have been given.

Cracking read, cheers. Lorimers comments particularly damning

I've always thought it was a better insight as to what actually happened, given it was a report from a Leeds' website so not one that could be accused of sour grapes.

For anyone who wasn't there, for whatever reason (including being too young), I would suggest spending a few minutes of your time reading it - it was the most blatant of fixed matches it's ever been my misfortune to witness, with emotions amongst our players & fans to match - everyone could see what was going on and reacted accordingly!

The atmosphere became poisonous.

The only detail I would disagree on was the lad waving the haversack was (iirc) aiming for Cooper, not Bell.

One thing I can add is that SAFC actually made a Tannoy announcement at the next home game (Everton?, but not sure) that Ken Stokes would NOT be refereeing the game - a rumour had gone round that he was going to, which added a couple of thousand? to the gate, who went with only one intention!

;)

I was there with my dad and my uncle. It was the very first time I heard my dad 'really swear'. I had never seen him so mad, thus the journey back was interesting!

That Ken Stokes chant reverberated around the Fulwell End for seasons to come, the fuckin cheatin twat.
It was the most blatant thing you could ever see.

yea four of us drove down, really shouldn't have bothered cos yon bastad stokes was never going to let us win the game,i'm really surprised he got out of booth ferry in one piece

I was there. We were cheated, absolutely no question about that.

without nameing them there will be someone along in a minute to tell you that ref's don't do that sort of thing

He'd be wasting his time. ;)

What we witnessed that day was a bought and paid for referee. The "penalty" was a joke, clean as a whistle tackle and I don't even think it was inside the area. Herd and Mulhall being sent off to ensure the "result" only served to rubber stamp what was going on. Cheating bastards.

true enough, and if i remember rightly,Leeds (allegedly)had a reputation for that sort of thing
