Best manager that has and ever will come from the NE. Was treat disgracefully by both sets of fans, sickening really. He was an old, frail man and deserved respect from all. It was below the belt what our fans sang about him, even if he was a mags manager there’s no excuses.

:lol::lol:

didn't quinny get spat on by his beloved sunderland supporters?

and bents mother,and lukaku,how did sunderland fans welcome them?
people in glass hoose n all that shite :lol:

They did.
Just like Sunderland fans hounded Darren Bent out by racially abusing his mother.
You could find anecdotes on every set if fans and spin it as gospel to suit your agenda.

Erm......Bob Paisley, Brian Clough? Even Don Revie, though he did poorly with England, muc as Bobby Robson prior to 1990.

He also wasn't frail when he was Newcastle manager, I remember when he took over there at 70 year old and a reporter asked if he was up to it so he challenged him to a sprint.

:oops::oops: what a tit

Langley Park iirc. I have some family there and I remember my uncle telling me that Bobby Robson's dad used to run the Sunderland supporters branch there years ago

Born in Sacriston 18th February 1933 ? Some of the Seggy lot are claiming him anyhoo !

Evidence of him being hounded out? His car was attacked in Newcastle when he was shopping at End aswell. That must have also played a part then eh?

Bob Paisley was the best manager to come out of Co Durham

It's not even a contest. Only Alex Ferguson won more.

YES

it's in his book,him and his wife spat on!

Quinny's book? Having read it, I don't recall that at all. He mentions the players being abused after the Reading game though.

Only Newcastle fans on here could start bringing up incidents of racism on a thread about Bobby Robson. I'm amazed Adam Johnson hasn't been mwntioned yet.

Went to school with my Grandad from my Mams side of the family, kept in touch with my Grandad till he passed in 2005 by means of a Christmas card every year. Met him a few times and honestly the nicest famous man you could ever come across.
These threads are always a bit sad tbh, yes they gave him abuse as did we while he managed them. No point denying it or trying to one up each other, but the re-writing of history by the Chronic does stick in ones craw.

Edit. He also attended my Grandads funeral, the last time I had the pleasure of speaking to the man.

He’d lost the dressing room and was unable to manage the new breed of wanker footballer like Bellamy (neither was Souness tbf) but most match going fans wanted him moved upstairs to a DoF role with a younger manager beneath him. The timing of the sacking after the start of s new season was abysmal and whilst people were prepared to give Sounessa chance hus appointment wasn’t the popular choice.

Yes the chronicle er al can rewrite history but so can most posters on here every time the subject is brought up.

The man wasn’t perfect (no one is)but he was loved in the NE and beyond and we should celebrate his achievements especially with the national team and as an English manager coaching clubs abroad

Bobby Robson is up there as one of the greatest football men of all time for me, and with my Sunderland cap on he always spoke about the North East as a whole, as a football community, I remember when the mags sacked him and I couldn't believe how it was done, although it was a bad period for Irish football at the time I was completely over the moon when he came in as the Irish assistant manager. As I'm out of the geographical loop I'm not sure what the in's and out's are of what Newcastle or their media say happened but I know any twist of the truth to make themselves feel better is complete disloyalty and just further insult from them to this legend.

“I don’t know the details but I’m sure the mags are wankers”
