Blue Monday: Why this date in January is the 'bleakest' of the year

Is there a chance that this could be a self fulfilling prophecy with so many telling people that they're going to be depressed and highlighting money issues etc? Could it push people over the edge?
It seems like an easy headline for a complex issue which could cause more harm than good.
