Blessed. The three greatest test matches

Imo, I was able to watch them all live

Headingley 1981

Edgbaston 2005

Trent Bridge 2022

i though I’d seen it all in 81, then it was surpassed by 2005.

then along came Trent Bridge in 2022. It was just the most captivating, frustrating, entertaining, funny, ridiculous and finally phenomenonal game I have seen

thank you to England and New Zealand for providing some of the best memories, I think I will ever have whilst watching cricket.

I wasn’t there so am unbiased. As good as yesterday was, I think 19 topped it by a couple of notches.

I was bored on a couple of the early days of this test when it was a run fest (awaiting pelters at this one).
I feel that those early days of this test, allowed for the crescendo yesterday. Absolute classic, the whole five days building to it

True.

But I was more gripped by the early days of the Ashes test (our horror first innings, Stokes’ epic bowling spell at the end of day 2) than I was this one. And as magnificent as yesterday was, the Leach/ Stokes finale had way more tension.

I agree but the reason I’ve not put the 2019 game was I hardly saw any of it. The three I listed I saw nearly every ball

i only really saw the highlights of 2019

aye but you said they were the three greatest test matches tbf mate

Headingley 2019 was, IMO, the best of the lot.

'81 is one of my fondest childhood memories, I got to go to '05, and '19 and '22 were just magnificent.

I'd have put Headingley above Edgbaston had we won the series. I was at neither of them like but will remember both days forever

81 was one of the first Test matches I ever watched and was responsible for getting me into cricket

Still too soon to consider TB 22 in a historic context, but it was certainly good fun.

Me too. Think I've mentioned this before on here but I vividly remember being called in from playing in the back street by my Dad who insisted I watch Botham's innings, then we watched Willis bowl them out the next morning. It was about 2 /3 weeks before my 8th birthday, and I've been hooked on Test cricket ever since.

2019 arguably brought two of Englands greatest games in history in the space of two months.

The pure drama of the World Cup final win followed by a unforgettable win against our biggest rival.

Never again will that happen.
