*~*~* Blackburn v Sunderland match thread *~*~*

Reading some of the comments it’s very obvious that many don’t understand football at all.

Absolutely clueless from some. Borderline mental from others.

We were poor in the first half due to their organisation. The opposition are allowed to put up an effort you know.

Second half we changed things in possession, Dan Neil dropped in between the centre backs and we created plus ones at the back and on both wide areas with full backs pushing on.

We should have got a second, we should have defended the back stick better (and prevented the cross) for their second but it happens.

A good point when we take all three at Stoke.
Spot on mate

Who do you take him off for tho? We don’t have anyone else who can play that position. You could move Isidor but he’s looked poor there and Connolly doesn’t look great up front on his own.
He can’t play in that position either. He had a lot of the ball and did nothing with it.

He has his pros but I didn't have any confidence in him scoring when given the chance with it being on his right. Wish he'd have at worst toe poked it.
He 'bottled it' GK took itfrom his feet. Reserve Fotty for him for 6 months. He's shown he isn't up to standard at this level. The corporates that run our club think they can toss a bunch of kids in their with big FOR SALE signs on their back. Why doesn't anyone else see this? "The Model" for what it is.

Agree with this, but would add he’s the manager with a good record so far, so he probably knows what he’s doing and would hazard a guess he knows more about football management and substitutions than 100% of the posters on here.

Of course his record is good. And he clearly knows what he’s doing. But this is a football forum to discuss matches and opinions. If we just bow down to the superior wisdom of everyone in the professional game what’s the point of it?

It’s common for le Bris to be really reluctant to make changes in games. It’s also not un-common for us to concede late in games we should have taken more points from. I think those two things correlate and it’s worth a discussion like

Mayenda has squandered SO many opportunities when he has the ball, Since his return from injury. I really don't want to see him again until next year,if he's improved.
Probably Im in the minority. But Im enjoying watching him - really exciting when he does what he';s paid for....run down the wing, turn inside or out. shots need working on, but otherwise probably my favourite player at the moment.

Must be nice to know everything about football ! Will you be the new face on MOTD ? 🤣

But there were some moments when we were vulnerable even when in control and that was through Mayenda. The incident leading to O’Nien’s card was a result of Mayenda’s rawness and tiredness. And he looked tired prior to that.

I don’t think he played well, but I don’t think he should be crucified. The manager should have looked after him far better this afternoon.
Fair comment.
