Bid rejected for Clarke

I've no idea of his wages £15-20K maybe. Could easily double that in the prem

By reports he’s our top earning on £15,000 a week an average premier league player is on double that and a lot treble.

Just have to wait and see how it plays out we don’t have to sell and he’s just had the best season of his career. Seemed to be really enjoying his football with us.

Aye, he's only got 3 years left on his contract so our hand may be forced.
Currently we are seen to be a very good place for talented players who have lost their way . We’ve persuaded two in Roberts and JC to come here and they have reinvigorated their careers. Clarke to an extent where he’s maybe able to go and earn a lot more money potentially . If the model is to work then we have to make it attractive to come here and making him sit on a lower wage because of contract length won’t help . Two choices are sell or much improved contract . I think we favour the former

Yes but players have to; understand organisations needs do have to be met and a year getting famous and a year maintaining for us at the agreed rate ( while we replace ) should be understood at the outset .
We sign these players because of their belief in themselves and our belief in them , when it works out that was planned, that was the deal, we shouldnt have to sell or renegotiate instantly .
FWIW i think Jack (and Harte ) are fine with that . He will go if we get an offer too big to refuse but only if

I do agree with this in general but it needs to be a little more flexible especially for home grown players.

Patterson will not necessarily have signed a contract worthy of a championship starting keeper and I would expect that negotiation to happen

Agreed , no one thats worth their salt and proves it should be on buttons. I'm more talking about the 'restoration jobs' we sign where we take the risk, provide the framework for these lads to realise earlier potential and put them on a reasonable championship screw. We do that at the cost of developing our own and having continuity . The contract cant be that volatile were left holding our balls with a bag of cash, nice as cash is .
