Bid rejected for Clarke

I know the headline says £15m is the valuation, but the article then goes on to say Lewis-Potter’s transfer fee is our bare minimum starting point - which was £16m

I imagine the club would look at £20m - £25m before accepting.
This ^^ doubt we'll accept less than £25m, tbh I would take that, we'd get a lot of players for that imho

I know all offers have to start somewhere but the reported Burnley offer is an insult

Club should simply tell them to not bother wasting our time coming back with an improved offer unless it is £20m plus

Player and agent are not angling for a move and seems just be a lot of paper talk

If SAFC say anything then it should be we have no interest in selling Clarke. The only way then for a move to happen is if the player wants to go.

This assumes of course we do not want to cash in, then it's down to a big fee.

A £7m offer is derisory.

Just a big game at the minute! His agent putting stuff into the media to get the interest going then someone at the club will be putting stuff to the media saying we won’t be backed into a corner, basically saying he’s available but we want top money for him.

There are some right Fannie’s on here (and even worse on Facey) that will believe every bit of shite originating from some 40 year old virgins bedroom when it comes to a ridiculously low offer being made for a player that most would say was one of the top 6 performers in the Championship.

As if the new regime would even do anything but laugh at a £7M bid for such a player. The same old comments about the club showing no ambition, blah, blah: most of it is made up shit (remember Kollergate) and the club are not involved whatsoever.

From Clarke’s point of view, he has been at Leeds,Spurs and Sunderland - why the fuck would he even contemplate jumping ship to Burnley, which makes Peterlee look like Monaco, at the first opportunity? It’s nuts; if he is to be turned by the lure of a big pay day, I would say that it will not be at Burnley, who are likely to be 2nd bottom of the league ahead of Luton only on what they would pay in wages

Rant over

This owner doesn’t negotiate in the press. Since KLD took over we know nothing of incomings until the scarf pic. The way it should be. SD and CM couldn’t keep their respective traps shut and consequently got their pants pulled down by Grigg.
