not on the paye income they cant-most celebrities and people in a lot of sports are self employed or paid by fees-but footballers have to employees afaik..so while there are a few thing that can be done VCT and EIS investments for example carry an icnome tax break-it wont touch the sides.
its sponsorships etc that are outside PAYE an where a more efficient tax managament solution could be used.

I've thought about something like this before - £20k per home game to a random home team supporter seat number. 1/40,000ish chance of winning a massive sum of money whilst watching a game of football for circa £30. People throw money away on the lottery - this would be far more appealing and would surely add numbers to the gate. Back in the premier league days this would have been a drop in the ocean, we were no doubt paying dross De Fanti signings this sort of money who were nowhere near the first team. Would have been good PR - a chance for some of the silly money to find its way to every day fans rather than mediocre players and their agents.
