So your point falls down pretty quickly.

All teams get degrees of luck. To say their 2nd on pure luck after 34 games is mental.

They deserve to be there and imo will end up there at the end of the season on at least 94 points.

We have fallen away from the automatics purely down to RLB tactics & being over cautious with his team selection. That’s without taking into account we’ve had no left wing for half the season, played the whole season with only 2 fullbacks & 3 centre backs available which now looks like 2 center backs for the remainder.
 
We’re exactly where we deserve to be after 34 games. The table doesn’t lie and it says we aren’t better than either Sheffield United or Burnley.

We’re far too inconsistent and nowhere near clinical enough in the final third.

Could we win the playoffs? Yes but I wouldn’t make us favourites.

I was taking part in the Sheffield United v Leeds United match discussion on HYS on the BBC Sport website today and the subject of the playoffs was discussed a few times. One asked how many times the team in 3rd has gone on to win.

So I went on Wikipedia, went through the seasons since the SkyBet era began and listed on an Excel spreadsheet the positions that have won the final and count each time every place in the playoff has won the final. No team from 6th has won it. The team 5th I think has only won the final two times. The team placed 3rd returned iirc 4 winners. But guess how many times the side 4th has gone to the final and got promoted…5 times!

Who is 4th right now???!!
