Better than Sheff United

The delusion on here… “We’re so much better than the team 8 points ahead of us” when we’ve screwed up to Plymouth, Watford and Hull at home!

At least tonight has shown though, Sheff Utd are going to get royally thrashed in the PL next year!
If wilder stays, they'll be worse than Southampton

Since the turn of the century, 21 teams have had 68 points or more after 34 matches in the Championship (or equivalent). Leeds last season are the only ones who were not promoted. Statistically there is now a <5% chance that Leeds, Sheffield United and Burnley will not be promoted.
Well, Luton had 54pts at this stage in the year they went up, so let's hold on to that. One of those three teams has to get through the playoffs and it will come down to one game where anything can happen. And if it's either SU or Burnley playing us, I wouldn't rule us out as we are 2W, 1D, 1L against them.

Sheff Utd just take the game to teams (tonight excluding) and then manage it. We sit back and can’t see them out, that’s the difference. They’re not 8 points better than us imo
You're right, they're 10 points better. It's their 2 point deduction that means the table has them just 8. We play some great stuff, but not consistently enough. And often when we do we don't capitalise on it.

I’m convinced some posters on here don’t watch our games.
This board is both amazing and amusing. On Saturday, 2.30 om the prevailing mood was we are crap, key players not good enough, some suggesting that Regis should be replaced, and others even thought we may miss out on the play-offs.

Two days later, and without playing another game, we're now better than second place.

Based on our games against them, and what I've seen of the others, we are the second best footballing side in the league.

Our lack of experience has meant we have dropped too many silly points elsewhere in games we should have won.

The Leeds - Hull fixtures summed us up. Put in an excellent performance against Leeds and on another night we take 3 points at Elland road. Then 6 days later we come up against a team fighting at the bottom of the league who employ a 'low block' and we can't break them down.

That is experience and squad depth to change the game in the same way Leeds did against us - two things we lack.

Ive watched them a good few times, they beat both Luton and Portsmouth and were butchered in both....Portsmouth missed two open goals from a yard, another "offside" by what must have been a milimetre, hit the bar, several other great chances....Luton nearly as bad....Both games they were torn to shreds and fluked a win.
To be fair I also saw the Portsmouth game and they should have easily won that game but for 2 open goals and other missed chances, but that’s the game.

Some people live in their own world

How have we been better than them?

We’ve been scraping results for about 4 months

What games do you watch if you think we play good football?

The three teams above us have the best squads in the league. Leeds have the most exciting team with a manager who isn't frightened to press and attack in numbers, Burnley have the best defence and have now strengthened their attacking options. Sheffield went out in January and brought in two centre forwards who would have gone straight into our team. Keeping in the top six is now the priority together with a massive change in how we set about teams who sit behind the ball...

The sides in the top three will finish in the top three. I still think Burnley will finish ahead of Sheffield United and the Blades will go into the playoffs.

Aside from confirming once again the incredible advantage of parachute payments, for me it will highlight the poor quality of this season’s championship.

Leeds aside there’s no side that would stand a prayer in the Premier League.

Hopefully we can steady the ship and hold on to fourth place. If we can get through a semifinal Sheffield United have a horrific playoff having failed to get promoted via the playoffs eight times out of eight.

if we had of done better in the january transfer we would of had a great chance as said before just don’t understand how or why we havnt brought more
players in , our squad is paper thin and we’ve been hampered once again by injury’s and our bench has been a joke most of the season

It will likely be different posters saying this. There are a thousand plus people posting on here, of course there are a variety of views
