I’m not sure it’s him, but rather than sign a direct xhaka replacement for when he retires, who won’t get to play every week, an experienced CB leader to share the captaincy duties and take over in two years is not a bad idea

We’ve already got three pretty experienced CB’s that could do that if you include Mukiele.I’m not sure it’s him, but rather than sign a direct xhaka replacement for when he retires, who won’t get to play every week, an experienced CB leader to share the captaincy duties and take over in two years is not a bad idea
He wouldn't though would he, be behind Hume.£120k just to push Hume to 3rd choice isn't a sensible use of a budget imo. That's how you max SCR pretty quickly.
Given our coaching set up it wouldnt surprise me to see both Mukiele and Pavard playing second fiddle to Humewould if we ship out Hume
Aye. Mukiele CB and bring in a quality RB.would if we ship out Hume
Maybe. I’m not sure they can lead like Xhaka as we saw when he was out, but perhaps they could grow into the role. We’ve already got three pretty experienced CB’s that could do that if you include Mukiele.
Not many can, in any position. His quality was missed more than his leadership whilst he was out IMO.Maybe. I’m not sure they can lead like Xhaka as we saw when he was out, but perhaps they could grow into the role.
If he had a boring English name such as Ben Paver then nobody would want to sign him.Might be ungrateful but hes a player on the down in his career rather than the up, not sure id want as a first choice rb over what we have, maybe if he was a LB
Benjamin Pavard hardly screams fancy European name likeIf he had a boring English name such as Ben Paver then nobody would want to sign him.
That was the basis of my attempt at mild humour, replicating a hypothesis often shared on this forum.Benjamin Pavard hardly screams fancy European name like![]()
We need to be improving the first team rather than back upThings like this all depend on what our budget limitations are.
If it was up to me, I would be putting a significant portion of any available budget to strengthening our RW position. A left-footed right winger with pace- as high quality as we can afford / realistically get. That's the priority for me.
After that, would be looking to get players who strengthen the team overall. Would say LB, ST, DM are probably positions we could use additional depth in ahead of RB.
