He will because the England management views Bairstow in a similar way to Bell because their introductions to test cricket have been similar. Additionally, Bairstow's excellent batting against the best attack in the world last year was noted.

Bell never had the technical deficiencies that Bairstow seems to have. Bell was always pretty immaculate. Was more just mental with Bell. Im not convinced at all by Bairstow but I dont think there are too many candidates to replace him.

TBH I'd drop Prior, give Bairstow the gloves & bring in another bowler.... the batting that Broad + Bresnan + Swann give you means we can afford to do that imho.

That is the killer stat why Ben is not involved in this ashes series. His batting this season has been fine and quite simply his range of shots put him a class above anyone else in the Durham side, But he has not transfered that natural ability into scoring hundreds and to be honest this happened last seson as well.

I still believe that certain England selectors are desperate to get him involved in the England set up. He may have to do it the Collingwood way by impressing in the one day set up and getting into the England test side that way.
 
Stokes is a massively destructive batsman but I think he is going through a bit of a change this year. His girlfriend has just had a baby son and his parents have moved over to Australia.

Has all the talent in the world. Just needs to wise up a bit.

Middlesex brought Raynor on to bowl in the game v Middlesex. I turned to my mate and said "watch Ben charge up the wicket, miss the ball and get stumped".

Thats what happened 2 balls later.

I think Bairstow is a better keeper & bat than Prior tbh.

Suppose Prior is always good for 130 against Bangladesh to boost his average mind.

Career Test average: 43.09

In 5 innings against Bangladesh, he's never made a century.

Will be a good wicketkeeper for England in 3/4 years when Prior retires. But needs to sort out his technical problems before being able to bat at 6.
