Ben Stokes Has Signed A New Three-Year Deal With Durham

Be amazing to see him once a year In a T20 against Derbyshire
Back in the day England were so shit they’d get beat inside 3 days (tests always started on a Thursday. Occasionally there would be rest days on a Sunday ) & the england players would be back to play for their counties in the old Sunday league

Aye the good old days of Thursday tests and Refuge Assurance Sunday League. I used to watch Yorkshire quite often back then

Durham fans of a certain vintage will recall the famous occasion in 1995 when England were demolished by the West Indies in less than three days which enabled Graeme Hick (who had scored 3 and 3) to travel north to Feethams and play for Worcs in the Sunday League where he scored a match winning 130.

Since he's been declared a busted flush on here I assume he'll play plenty for Durham over the course of this three year deal.

Be interesting to see, once his England career is over, whether he comes back to county cricket or retires completely. I imagine it takes its toll being as high profile as he is and it wouldn't surprise us if he leaves cricket entirely

What a tremendous cricketer he is

Think he'd be more likely to join the T20 circuit or his body will be too much of a wreck to do anything

Oh aye, forgot that's a thing. So yeah probably unlikely we'll see much of him at Durham either way. Glad I got to watch him represent DCCC (when it still existed)

Tbf most international cricketers seem to knock it on its head when there england career is over. Cook, Collingwood and Trescothick are some that have gone back to the County game but there are few and far between
