clearly been fit enough at times to fulfill the all rounder position - not sure its been as often as weve seen him playing...tbf Flintoff was injured the majority of his time from 06-09 and still put in some great performances

I would imagine it would be up to Stokes. There is nobody left at the ECB. I would imagine Root standing down doesn't help as he appears in the frame for the England captaincy and will want to keep a low profile possibly.
I had wondered what effect this would all have on his availability. I’m not expecting they’ll announce it this early on before the summer Tests, but there’s going to be a media storm following him for a while.
