We watched the lad with one leg after the game while sittin in the car. There were four of them, 3 male one female. Two were on the road leading to the stadium and the other outside the stadium after the game.. Never saw where the lass was but they were divying up beside Hay street units. The one legger in the wheel chair looked the main man taking the money.
Apparently, they pull this scam every year at the Hoppings.

they hire dogs for the day to play on the fact there's a dog without a home too.

They were walking over the bridge at the same time as me after the match yesterday. Group of about 6 or 7 carrying sleeping bags etc, one of them with a dog that looked well-looked after. The poor animal was almost knocked over 3 times at the traffic lights next to the multi story. Bloke was stood at the traffic cones (in the middle of the road) and the dog kept stepping into the road because he was stood so close to the traffic and the bloke was too thick/pissed/stoned to care.

Absolute scum.

Seemed to be quite a high number of beggars around the stadium, never really noticed it before but counted at least 4 or 5.

Is it a sign of the times or a gang working together?
There’s defo a few of them working together, seen them setting up when I left a night game early

He was sat with the dog just as you come left over the bridge underneath the metro line, the dog looked well looked after but the bloke looked off his tits.

They converge on the place on a match day……notice you never see them there otherwise. I’ve seen them getting off the metro. They are just blagging money

As you enter the bridge under metro stationmone was screaming in his dogs face “haway sunderland”.
Comented to the bairn “strange name for a dog”.

I called my dog Shark..... I had a terrible time shouting for him down at the beach 🥵 🦈 🐕
Homeless people - so sad.

What's worse is that because of contactless payments hardly anyone (including me) has change to give them.
Before lockdown I used to save up my £1 coins to give to the homeless at Kings Cross - I really need to start doing that again.

But - What I learned from an investment banker mate of mine who doubled up as a refuge centre helper around Trafalgar Square .... Is that what homeless people really want is some dialogue (worth more than money) you can fling 50p at them but really what they crave is some kind words..... to feel like they belong and still matter. Just a "hi how are you".

This thread has reminded me to get my act together.

Thank you.

I did see a begger recently (in New Zealand) with a little EFTPOS device..... the times are a changing 💰 🤑

What you say is disgusting by the government. But we all know the tories only see a level of individual they are interested in and it’s not anyone who needs help,it’s only those who can help them! I do work in a social housing environment and although not as serious as cutting a human being loose in a time/life need of guidance these tenants are living a less than grand life- houses needing repairs the council simply can’t afford due to budget cuts etc. my partner works in a school for Autistic children and they need more staff-but the likelihood is she will be offered her redundancy in the summer to save money! Stinks to high heaven

The level of destruction these burks have overseen will not be recovered from for a very very long time.
......And yet, people STILL keep voting them in.

There's a fella in the city where I work wanders round asking people to buy the Big Issue. Except he isnt selling it, only has the one in his hand, isnt registered, and just wants to attract people who support that organisation so he can ask them for money.

Kind of spoils it for the genuine Big Issue sellers.

That's him. Who's lending their dog to dafties like him? Mental. Felt for the dog tbh

There was a begger (well his dog) camped out on a matt in the main Pitt Street in Sydney City for years, chalk drawing and words on pavement asking for 'donations' into a box. The dog was a lovely looking old Golden Retriever.... 'they' must of made a fortune.

It was a bit of a tourist attraction for years.

I think either the beggar or the dog passed away, or the Council may of had enough and moved them.
