I see they have resigned from the NEDCL with immediate effect anyone know the reasons why? Not good that another club has gone to the wall

Sad to see. I work in Bearpark and talk to kids, they have never had a junior setup to my knowledge so kids have gone to Brandon, Esh or Langley

Shows how important junior cricket is

30th anniv of pit closure there I believe. Done better than some at keeping their club going

The 2nd team was a kind of junior set up. We had lots of durham city kids play including Danielle Hazel.

The problem with Bear Park was that only a handfull of players were local. Most like my self were "foreigners", it was only a matter of time when the locals couldnt keep this good club afloat. Sad day indeed.

So where have the players that were left gone? packed in as well?

So two clubs lost in a week from same league. Not great. Are other clubs unable to help short term?
I'm not sure if either club asked anyone for any help.
And by the sounds of it both clubs have lost the majority of there players to other clubs now.

Maybe if there is committee members at these the clubs with the time and effort, then hopefully they will re-appear in the not too distant future.

Sad news about these teams folding, can't really see either starting again.

Very disappointing when you think there's players at other clubs who aren't getting a game who probably could have filled these teams.

Sad to see them go, played there for a lot of years and it's true not many were local. The 2nd team always struggled to get 11 out, and tended to rely on Danielle Hazel dad Geoff bringing in youngster from Durham.

I always thought that once the 2nd team went, it was inevitable that it would hoping sooner or later as there would be no new blood coming through.

Just goes to show that clubs nowadays need to have a decent youth set up in order to continue. Its sad when clubs go to the wall but people cant play foreever and with no youth coming through the writing is all ready on the wall.

Sad day, however I would be intrested to know how many teams there are now rather than clubs. With the growth of Sunday cricket a lot of clubs are now fielding four or five tems a week now when in the past it would be two or three, so while clubs might fold we might have as many teams.

I dont know the answer but I have a feeling that smaller clubs folding, while being down to all sorts of local reasons could also be linked to other clubs offerring more teams often with better facilities. Any thoughts?

Ushaw Moor are in a similar boat.

Decent first team (well in terms of intrest)
Seconds tend to have an elite 8 then whoever

then nothing until the 13s

If no 14 to 18 year olds are coming through then it will be a struggle in a few years surely.
