Be honest

I've had a season ticket for almost 30 years.

I follow my team not the division they're in.

We renew our season tickets , sometimes before we know what league we’ll be playing in ,sometimes before we know who our manager will be and certainly before the retained list is issued never mind who we might buy for the next season.

And on the very remote chance we may play at Wembley and be guaranteed a seat as a bonus.

You can change your wife , you can’t change your football club.

I've never ever had a season ticket 🤷

But....

Never missed a game I wanted to go to in the 60+ years of supporting the lads.

Been to over 400+ games home and away.

Went to both FA Cup finals '73 and '92 Every round in '73 but only the Final in '92 Attended Wembley playoff final vs Wycombe, the only game I every saw us play in League 1.

Went to pre season games in Canada, South Korea, Hong Kong and Spain.

Went to both our other European games, home and away in 1973.

*I will definitely will be at least attending the cities of every Europa League game we play next season 😎

Only saw one game this year, away to Man City 😔

Cool story 😉

Did you have season ticket through the league on years.
Being an exile (170 miles away from SOL) I have only ever bought 1 season ticket and that was for our first season in league 1.

It came in handy for the 2 wemberlee visits even though I attended neither match.

Haven’t had one since they shifted me from my seat in the north stand upper, didn’t like the people round the new seat I got. Still go though, don’t get the new obsession with league one season ticket holders, should they be the only ones allowed in for European games? What about going to every game during the first division 3 campaign and the Butcher Buxton days do they count? Or the first 15 years at the SOL? Some people love to be uber.

Nope. Had a season ticket 3 times in my life, once under Butcher (ugh), first couple of years in the SoL, and then the Moyes season (again, ugh).

Always preferred to go match by match, first League 1 season I went to a fair few but then suffered serious illness and had life-saving surgery. First match back post-recovery was under Mowbray. Always accept I'm going to struggle to get derby tickets when things are good & deservedly so, but happy to pay through the nose when the occasion demands it.

Had one since the 06/07 season, had to give it up due to working weekends 23/24. If I knew it was gunna be this hard to get one again I would’ve just took the hit and kept it, but that’s life.

What we’ve seen since it might be a sign for me to buy game by game for a while

Same, went to games from 1972 onwards, season ticket holder from the last year at Roker until our first season back in championship from league one, then just fell out of love with it all. Could have we t to play off final but felt others deserved the tickets more for going to every match. Over the moon where we are now but like I said others deserve tickets ore than me if we have a good European run. What I will ask though is how do the thousands of Johnny come lately supporters feel about not supporting us when we were in league one but are going now

Had mine since 1996.
Mine since 1992 - after queuing/camping out for tickets for our run to the FA Cup final, I got one to (hopefully) guarantee a ticket for any future finals. It's served me well for one league cup, a Checkatrade and all the play offs. Who knows re the Europa League? ;)

First game was in 1970. No need for a season ticket in those days, plus they were only available in the seats and were too expensive. A cousin used to take me and my brother to the match from age about 8 or 9. We used to go in the Roker End or paddocks. One game, after arriving at Roker Park, our cousin decided we'd go in the Main Stand seats. I remember mam going absolutely mental that we'd spent a fortune to sit. If I recall correctly, it was 90p a seat - which (according to an online inflation calculator) is equivalent to about £11 now :D

I swear some people would be happy if we played Juventus and the 25k that turned up against Morecambe were the only people in the ground.
It’s strange…there’s a perception from fans (of all clubs) that you’re only a loyal supporter if you have an ST. The reality is those that are longstanding supporters have often had season tickets in the past and would like nothing better than to still have one, live in the area and be going to games with friends and family. I’ve never been more homesick than this year because the lads have been doing so well….
