Can someone have a word with our Ball boys and get them a bit more switched on to what is happening in the game. When teams like Blackpool last night are wasting time at every goal kick, throw in and corner it is so frustrating to see our Ball Boys ambling after the ball and rolling it back to them half arsed!. Get it back to them quickly and get the game started again. One incident in the second half, the ball was rolling down the side of the advertising hoardings on the pitch side - the ball boy stood up looked at it and sat down again and let Reece James chase after it.
Can't we have this multi ball scenario where every time the ball goes out they throw a spare one on straightaway.
I'm not having a go at the lads as such, they are only young and probably haven't been told what to do in these cases, but someone should spend a bit of time telling them how important it is to be alert and keep the game moving.
 

We don't have regular ball boys. It's a different local team each week who are invited to do it. It's harsh blaming the children as they probably don't have a clue about the urgency to return the ball.

Agree with you are saying and would prefer to go back to regular paid ball boys as I think they were a benefit.
 
That one last night who just sat there and Reece James had to run past him to get the ball.. the fuck was he doing? His job literally is to watch for the ball going out of play
 
For starters every other ball boy should be on the pitch side of the boards they are kids and struggle to climb over the boards every week.

It's pointless having one directly behind the goal. 1 each side would be much better.

Use the same kids each week. I get it's good for them and their dad's but it's different kids every match they aren't going to get better. Get one of the youth teams to do it from the beginning of the season.

There was a steward or a camera man with a yellow vest in the south stand running onto the pitch to get the ball back to the keeper before the ball boy had got over the boards.

I'm not blaming the kids but someone at the club should be sorting this out. In a game like last night when there was so much time wasting - they become part of the problem! Its not fair on them if the crowd are shouting at them, but you can understand why, when it happens all through the game.

I like this idea and my son has actually been a part of it with his team. However I don't think it is working for us. When we're needing to get the ball back onto the pitch quickly a lot of these kids - as they're only doing it once - are very hesitant. Its a huge thing for kids but when you're not doing it regularly then it's natural you're going to be unsure.

I think we need to get a "team" of ballboys for maybe 3 or 4 games at a time. they used to be from the academy but obviously they're above this now....

It is ridiculous mind. I understand they are kids but if they aren’t going to do it properly the they should fuck off imo. What happened to multiple balls? That reserved for the premier league or summit? Embarrassing this league.

As for the kids won't realise the importance of getting the ball in quickly, I'm sure their parents would fill them in about their duties, I know I would.

Probably because the young'uns who are the ball boys for a match don't have this problem on FM35 or what ever. This is probably due to them sitting on their little arse's in the bedroom. Time for a ball boys coach called Carlsberg, probably
 
I've been saying all season how crap our ball boys/girls are. They should be positioned at the end of the hoardings beside the corner flag ready to head towards the goal or the halfway line on whichever side of the hoardings the ball is on. They can even be told to go a bit slower if we're 1 goal up. BTW, it's the management of the kids that's at fault, I don't want different schools/teams doing this - some of the youngsters don't seem to have the first clue about the rules! If you want to see how ball boys should do the job watch a Man City home game live, they are part of "the team". I think I read that Pep has had words..........................................

Not rocket science is it. Why don't they get the kids to do an under 23 game and then give them some tips at half time if they are aren't very good. If they are decent by full time, give them a go at SoL. If they are still shite chase them.
 
i understand they're only bairns but it's so frustrating when the ball goes out of play. you've got every single opposition team wasting time as it is without the ball boys taking f***ing ages to get the ball back onto the pitch. that yesterday where James had to run half the length of the pitch to get the ball back as the lad just sat there watching it roll away was comical
