Bairstow loses Test Central Contract

I thought they might have looked to bring him back this winter.

So I'm surprised. Feel slightly for him as he should have never been moved from 7.

But end of the day international sport and where's he became invaluable in the white ball, his form did go completely in the red.

It'll be the fans and the media's fault somehow. We were desperate for him to fail etc....

From Wisden

No opener in the history of ODI cricket has a higher batting average AND a higher SR than Jonny Bairstow (min. 10 inns)

He also has the highest IPL average of anyone in the tournament's history (min. 10 inns)

argument he’s our best ever

Yet the same idiots on here slag him off no matter

no idea what the calendar will look like but i bet you whilst england don't pay him they still tell him to skip games for us to keep him right for them. FTECB

Is that just in the history of English Odi cricket? Pretty sure Rohit Sharma averages more. Not denying Bairstow is a brilliant white ball player but just checking

I agree there seems to be a undercurrent on here that people are all too happy to criticise him when he is not playing well, happens a lot imo.

However when he is playing well, it seems to go quiet on him and he doesn’t get the credit he deserves.

He is very good cricketer .

Disagree, most people give him tons of credit for his white ball performances

He gets criticised for playing loose shots in red ball stuff. And doesn’t help himself by acting like a right tart at times

When I think of the dross I watched play for England through the 80s and 90s it shows how bloody good England must be now if Bairstow can be dismissed as not up to snuff.

There is no doubt he has been a bit of a prick at times and bit of a brat I agree

But I also think reading these threads over the last few years there is certain posters ( not you) who seem pleased he has failed at test level and imo don’t give him the credit he deserves and almost seem disappointed when he does well

There is plenty times I disagree with @The Rat but on this particular issue think he is spot on

same can be said for alot of players to be fair. there's alot of players around that squad or who never got a sniff who but for a few years might have been england regulars

Utter nonsense

when has he acted like a tart?

he has a drive to prove people wrong since he’s a young lad for obvious reasons.

yet just gets personal abuse from the likes of you n that surrey lad still

he doesn’t get credit for his one day stuff at al on here

Insane, disgusting, bizzare, strange behaviour etc for the record I know someone who knows Bairstow and he can confirm how much of a tart/bellend he is

Not at all, just has an illogical dislike for a world class player, with no sympathy to the problems he had as a bairn, which has shaped his personality.

@chunkylover53 still can't give one example of this supposed disgraceful behaviour he is meant to have shown. It seems to be purely based on how he celebrated a 100 in Sri Lanka

Only in england would that be a problem.

Anyway

Athers says it well today

he had a major technical flaw in tests that was exposed time and time again, quality one day player mind but the stumps of test cricket are all happy ;)

You can't imagine how that would change your personality when so young.

Yes, some stumps saved for sure!

Absolutely, I guess its made him a bit of an outsider, and he is vulnerable at times, but I really don't to get these claims he is a spoilt brat and all the stuff people on here throw at him.

I'd like to be given examples of it? As I said before, seems to be based on celebrating a 100 in Sri Lanka.

He has the mindset that he has been proving things and people wrong since he was a lad, for obvious reasons, if you read his book. Its very touching.

Can honestly never remember an England player get so much stick on this forum as he does, and I am really not sure what its based on, and I am not talking about criticism of technique or anything like thatm which is what people claim when they backtrack.

Gets singled out all time as some sort of troublemaker, it couldn't be anything further than the truth, completely baseless. I don't get it. Because he likes wicketkeeping or someit? Hmmmm, I wonder why.
