BA sale now on

I prefer KLM over BA by far and I like Schiphol so much more than Heathrow too but I’ll lose my gold status with KLM with them not flying to the Middle East right now

I knew my time was up with BA, and most of my work trips were Europe via Paris or Amsterdam anyway so managed to get decent status with them.

Already got some family trips booked with KLM rather than BA….may as well milk the perks while I can!

I booked up with BA other day for a single flight from Newark New Jersey back to UK August 1st £412 for both of us .Then the dreaded seat selection £35 each to sit together.Telt her next flight I book it'll be random selection when we check in.

Virgin are great. Their Premium economy is excellent. Would do that rather than BA Business every time.

BA go from Ponteland to Caribbean, with a change at Heathrow.
Virgin or Tui means a drive to and from Manchester not great coming home when you jet lagged.
BA holidays website are great value on full holiday packages especially when the January sale is on, normally beat all the main players prices by a good way.
We have had some cracking deals to Barbados off them

I'm pretty much done with BA now that I have lost my Silver card after 15 years. I was the sort of customer who they didn't want.

Still have a bunch of Avios to burn through but otherwise I will now treat them just like any other airline.

I hadn't had it for that long, but long enough to get used to the benefits of travel.......I'd always book our long haul trips with them as the seat selection, priority boarding and lounge access just made it so much straight forward. First world problems though innit.

Final hurrah was Nashville in March, went me ends in the lounges and a free upgrade at the gate, a nice parting gift

Boston in October is with KLM, and will continue to favour them & AF until my status goes with them too....likely Plat to Gold in Nov, then Gold to Silver Nov 27, as doubtful I'll achieve either again.

Then I'll be back to hating all lounge users and early boarders, and getting my pre-flight pint & bait in LHR spoons.

BA lounge in Heathrow is terrible, crap food.Virgin knocks spots off it.

I had 6 hours in CDG Lounge recently, great selection in there by comparison....got back to Newcastle and when went through the manned passport control, they asked where I'd come from and I said Amsterdam, which is the my usual route.

The wifey was like, are you sure..I was like, oh aye sorry, Bucharest, thinking she meant where I left from originally,....she gans Sir this plane is from Paris, I said, yeah you're right, there

I blame the champagne....wouldn't happen in heathrow!

The BA lounge at Gatwick is much better.

At Heathrow T3 there are good One World options through Qantas and Cathay Pacific. The Qatar lounge in T4 is decent for food but with a very limited drinks selection.

Since losing my BA Silver card I've gone down the Priority Pass route. The deal through Halifax/Lloyds is good value and is cheaper than buying PP direct.
