Away form

It was f***ing Arsenal, for god sake. They are winning the league at a canter.

Brentford - Game was on a knife edge Le Fee missed the pen and swung the momentum.

West Ham - We were absolutely shite and setup wrong.

Today - it is what it is, they’re a good side.

Doesn’t mean we are going to get turned over 3-0 every away game
We are getting turned over 3-0 pretty regularly like . We are having a superb season and deserve so much credit but the recent away form both defensively and scoring goals is a slight concern . Both things can be true like

We played fairly decently today tbh, we created a few chances (which obviously we didn't take) and had more shots on target for them quite late in the game.

While the overall away form hasn't been great, today's performance was alright. If we had played like that against West Ham, we'd have got something.

Realistically, we are setting out to contain the likes of Arsenal, City, Chelsea, Liverpool away from home. And we've actually got 4 points away from that quartet. It's the performances against the "weaker" or mid-table teams that have been more disappointing: West Ham, Burnley, Fulham, Brentford etc.

Getting worse not better, shipping way too many goals. The defenders are so unfocused and we create very little in attack.

Regis needs to change it up completely.

Have we just got defensively complacent since attaining enough points relative at this point in the season to stay up?

Alderete seems very unfocused at the minute

Doing the job of being hard to beat at home (unbeaten in fact) and doing what they can away. Have picked up some decent results at spurs and palace off the top of my head and have beaten Chelsea. Nothing to worry about at all

Nothing I’ve said is reactionary or over the top. No gasket blown, no calling for droppings or sackings, no criticism of individual performances. Just an assessment of the actual scorelines and situation. And even an acknowledgement that we generally played well today.

The defensive resilience earlier in the campaign isn’t there. We were very hard to score against, now we aren’t.

Not sure what warrants the expletives

Expletives? Have a day off mate, does saying ‘it’s f***ing Arsenal’ offend you?

It’s hardly an assessment either is it? You’ve made one statement on our away form.

On us being no longer defensively resilient?

You do realise things are fluid? Let’s look at the side we played today, they were the masters of defensive resilience earlier in the campaign going 8 games without conceding a goal and 4 games without conceding a single shot. Since then they’ve conceded 3 vs United, 2 vs Bournemouth, Chelsea, Us, Kairat and Villa. Things change as other team analyse you more. We are still Top 6 for clean sheets anyway..

Fulham and Brentford are the only games I've felt we were shite, all the rest we've gave decent accounts of ourselves for large spells. City and Arsenal score lines flattered them imo. Games like Burnley we could have easily been 2-0 by half time given a touch of luck/better finishing, ManU would have folded if Traore didn't miss a sitter in the 3rd minute.

If we play like we did today against Liverpool on Wednesday, we will beat them.

Even at Brentford, Le fee killed us

Think weve had 3 really tough away games in fairness. Brentford are absolute monsters at home, the Emirates is the hardest place to go and even West Ham were resurgent and it was a bit of a cup final for them they really had to win and the manager said as much begging the fans to make noise. Weve had some really good away performances this season.

First 7 games on the road was 2 wins, 2 draws, 3 losses, 8 points and a goal difference of -3.

Last 6 games on the road has been played 6, drawn 2, lost 4, 2 points and a goal difference of -11.

Yes we have had Arsenal and City in the last 6, but we did have Chelsea, United and Liverpool in the first 7 so somewhat balanced out.

We’ve missed Xhaka which doesn’t help but I think we’ve also some of that defensive doggedness that made us really tricky to play against.

Obviously it’s a roaring success of a season. But just moderately frustrating that there’s such a disparity between home and away resilience

17th in the league if based on away results..

Which is still out of the relegation zone so it's bad but there's 3 worse.. we'll surely get better too but today at Arsenal was a task too big
This is about form.

Almost all of our away points came at the start of the season.

You can't be counting games from September and October as part of our "form".

Our last 6 away games have produced 2 points - 2 draws and 4 losses.

13 goals conceded 2 scored.

Our away form is undeniably abysmal. Results are bad and getting worse.

The toughest away games are behind us now (maybe only Villa remaining): Arsenal, Man City, Man Utd, Liverpool, Brentford, Fulham.
All games left home and away are winnable from now on.

We had a good season, we are safe, let's enjoy the last part of it, we'll win a few no doubt.

Can't wait to see Angulo starting games.
