Away Fans at SOL Update

don't go to games but is it card only in the stadium? If not surely when the away fans by a pint for £4 quid they are going to get a free missile to go with it in fth for of a £1 coin or if they are lucky 2 in the the form of 50p x2?

ignore this, just seen in another thread its cashless!

Would be better to have cash used in note form in the stadium. Let them buy a pie and a pint.....then BANG! stewards all over them, and out the door when given their change  (I still think it's crackers mind)

Purely my opinion, but things started to go wrong in league 1. The club wrongly decided to cash in on away fans and give stupid allocations to clubs (I think Luton were given something like 6,000).

This then created a ‘big day out’ style atmosphere and the day trippers started to act up. Mix this with a lack of security in the north stand, and it was a recipe for disaster.

The catalyst for this seasons’ problems was again the fault of the club. We all knew Coventrys support was full of wankers, but not only did they give them 1,000 tickets but then give them another 500 which went straight to general sale.
Seems to have popped up from nowhere, I don’t remember much trouble from the later PL seasons or the relegation season in the Championship from away fans. Seemed to start with Portsmouth in our first L1 season and got worse from there with more and more visiting fans acting up.

I do think the big day out mentality had a part to play in L1, but it’s even clubs like Burnley now who I’ve never seen bother with in the past

Only answer in the end will be heavy restrictions on away ticket allocations

Can't wait to sing "worst support we've ever seen" "where'd ya park ya mini bus" & "have you ever seen your dick" to the away fans from the SWC again

It's under consideration.

Idiocy if they do it.

Surely we can insist on sales on to supporters with season cards and/or previous purchase history? Won't eliminate sales to numpties, but it will make it harder for them.

Society has changed. Unrest is unfortunately on the rise. And it’s reflected in the trouble from places like Burnley who in the past have caused little to none of the crap that went on.

Looking back at our first season in L1, there were warning signs which the club failed to deal with before the Coventry debacle.

If I remember right, objects were thrown by Luton, Southend and Scunny. Luton were given a ridiculous number of tickets (6000+) and went like dicks all day. The other two sold allocations which were sizeable compared to their home attendances thanks to general sale.

By the time Coventry came to town in late early April, we should have known the issues caused by giving big allocations to clubs where general sale was often used, yet the club continued to cash in.

What we say that day was a complete breakdown of security and although it was a deeply unpleasant experience, thankfully no one was hurt.

Bizarrely though, just three weeks later, the club were still giving tickets to Pompey despite them already having sold a sizeable allocation. Ffs, they were even sold boxes.

The first Coventry match really commenced the discussion on the whether the aways needed moving. I can’t help but feel had the club learnt the lesson from Luton, and just restricted Coventrys allocation to the minimum of 2,000 and ensured a big security presence, we wouldn’t be in this position

We'd all like all supporters to behave like adults, including ours but they don't. With that in mind why do they put them in the upper tiers in the North stand where missiles can be launched onto unsuspecting fans below. The club should allocate them a different area of the stadium.

Absolutely mad if they move the cameras. Why would they need to? Some grounds looks shocking on the tele at certain times of year/for early kick offs. Selhurst and Bournemouth are 2 off the top of my head. No need at all for our cameras to be moved.

He’d struggle keeping folk waiting counting out out his copper to pay for his pint in a lot of pubs up here tbh 😂
All good things come to those who wait.
My coinage is already and waiting to be handed over once I am served when I am at the bar. 👍
Cash is king.
